Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Well Alice turned up today- She is much smaller and fatter than I remember her being in voyager, it really surprised me actually. I don’t know if it’s her colour but I’m struggling to put her with anything else- maybe I’ll put her with the other shuttles. The ss emmette is cool. It has nice detailing at the back and is a really nice addition. I’m really enjoying these ‘missing link’ type starships. Looking forward to the OV-165 in a few issues time!

I took a little bike trip a couple days ago to a far corner of my town and decided to reward myself by stopping in at comic store I know in that area and taking home a ship. They didn't have many that I don't already have, so I went with Neelix's ship, the Baxial.

It's boxy little thing, certainly not one of the more graceful-looking ships, but, hey, they can't all be. I never realized, it's actually slightly asymmertrical, with a docking hatch on the port side (presumably due to it being docked the first time we actually saw it in "The Chute"). It's mostly die-cast, so it's one of the heavier models too.

We don't really know enough about Talaxian ships to say whether this fits in with their look (and indeed, we don't technically know if the ship was Talaxian-built at all). It looks like something that would seem right at home in a "Star Wars" movie (and apparently, it was recycled at one point to show up as a background ship in "Firefly").

Not exactly a ship I'll get excited about, but very well made.

^ I like the cockpit section a lot. Overall, the ship comes across as truck. In licensed material, it’s called Drexia class. In STO, the hangar bay on the Talaxian asteroid in the Entaba system is full of them. They’re about the same size as a Danube class.

The only other Talaxian ships we saw were two types of triangular fighters (VOY “Basics”, “Homestead”) and the repurposed-tools-turned-ship of Neelix’s stepson.

SO! Just got off the phone with Eaglemoss. The person I talked to was unaware if the subscription is available yet. This, after I was told back in March that it was supposed to be ready by April, and I even gave them an extra month. I left my name and number so she can call me back after talking to a supervisor, but I'm not holding my breath. I got that line before and never got a call back. So, FWIW, probably no sub in the US yet.

I really don't understand this. I don't know about the other collection lines like Dr. Who, Aliens/Predator, TWD, etc., but subscriptions for all the different Trek lines (regular, XL, specials, Disco) became available months before the first ships existed. We're already one model in (Viper Mk II) and the Nu-Raider is about to be released in a few weeks (allegedly).

In fine...

Huh...it might! Going to give it a try. First I've seen anything about it. Why would they keep that such a secret? And why would the person I talked to not know about it? Will let you know how it works. Thank you! :)

Update: Just signed up and it seemed to work. Should be seeing the Viper for $19.95. We shall see! Thanks again... was getting worried that it would never happen.

I just got an email announcing the BSG subscription. It's rather pricey at $59.95 (USD) per ship!

Interesting! I wonder if they're finally starting to notify people of the subscription because of my inquiry yesterday. Good! :)

Dude, that's a lot of ships.

Compared to some, not really.

I have 52 on display, 26 from the regular collection, two concept designs, three XL's, 7 specials and then the 12 shuttles. I also have another 22 but they're boxed away till I get around to getting new bookshelves from IKEA.

According to Bernd over at Ex Astris Scientia, Ben told him at the Eaglemoss booth in Germany, that the Shepard Class was based off rejected Shenzhou concept art which explains the similarities.
I like that.
A) Some rejected designs in Trek history would’ve made cool ships (Probert’s mega-warbird) or were actually recycled into cool ships (Defiant pathfinder into Nova class).
B) If two ship classes are from the same “mold”, the design language helps world building by suggesting design lineage.

He also has some registries for some of the ships from Discovery.

Earhart NCC-1052 Engle Class
Dana NCC-1690 Hoover Class
Sioux NCC-1621 Malachowski Class
Ride NCC-1265 Shepard Class

Did those come from John Eaves ? I hadn’t seen the class & registry of those listed anywhere before.

I believe so. He posted a large list of revealed ship names on his Facebook some time after the premier of Episode 2, but since it was deleted I can't get it.

Was anyone else charged for a binder? I received an email that this month's collection has shipped and noticed this:
ST22 x 1 - Krenim Temporal Weapon Ship
ST23 x 1 - Nebula Class
STBINDERPAID x 1 - Star Trek Starships Paid Binder

It looks like I was also charged ~$10 more than usual...

Edit: Never mind. I called up Customer Service and was told subscribers get a binder every 16 issues
