Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

"Ganges class"? Was that in the Delta's accompanying book? I found references to this in Memory Beta but that's the first I've seen that name associated with the class. Is that its official name?

It's the licensed but non-canon name. The name comes from the Pocket Book novel: Star Trek: Enterprise: Rise of the Federation: Book 3: Uncertain Logic by Christopher L. Bennett. He named it after Ganges, largest river delta on Earth. Another one is the Eberswalde, named for the largest delta on Mars.
Eaglemoss went for UES Warp Delta, implying it's an official ship name.

The Rise of the Federation series is also the source for Columbia class as NX-01 refit. Admiral Archer chose the name to honor the first NX-class ship to be lost. In STO, the Columbia NX-02 has been refitted to Columbia-class specifications by 2411.

So is the pre-refit the Enterprise-class?
No it is still NX Class.

Ugh, i wish you could buy the individual ships in Canada. I missed the subscription window.

I also regret not buying any ships when I was at ST Vegas last year. There were just so many I didn't know what to choose haha.

Just got the Voth research vessel, which looks neat. (BTW, anyone else think the black paint for windows on models of smaller ships is not the best choice? I'm not saying it looks bad per se, just that I always have a hard time imagining there's a cockpit behind it. I don't know a better solution, but how cool would it be to actually have a darkened piece of opaque plasic with a rudimentary cockpit behind it? I know, it won't happen, but a fan can dream …)

Unfortunately, the Franklin won't arrive before May 24. :sigh:

Anyone in the US gotten the Vahklas and E-J pair yet? Has any subscriber in any country gotten them?

Still all quiet here - last email I received from Eaglemoss on the subject 2 weeks ago said they were still out of stock, which in the email before that said they should have gotten them back in stock by the end of April, which apparently never happened. Very weird...

I bought the "J" at a store months ago. (I'm Canadian).

I am not from the US (I'm Greek) and I'm not a subscriber (I order them individually and buy them from a local comics store) but I bought the Enterprise-J in March. It's a nice model if you're a fan of the design. Here's what I wrote about it back then:

I've just bought the Ent-J as well from my local comic book store. I was a little nervous because usually the owner brings only one Eaglemoss model just for me. So if it was broken I would have been screwed. Luckily it was perfect although I'm still afraid to take it out of its box. The nacelles and pylons are literally needle thin!

I got them as my regular shipment in February I think. I just got notice the Suliban & Kyushu (issue 94 & 95) shipped & I'm not missing issues.

I'm a subscriber and I also received the E-J and Vahklas back in February. I should be receiving the Kyushu and Orion in a few days according to the tracking number sent. I've yet to "miss" any issues since I started my subscription all those years ago. Sometimes (3-4 times) I may only receive one ship and then might have 3 shipped the next month. Even had 4 ship at once before but never missed a month.

I'm missing 4 ships in total from over the last 3 months. What's really weird is that they keep telling me "on back-order" whenever I call. I was in the first group of American pre-ordered subscriptions from before the series started shipping and am located in one of the states where they are warehousing and shipping to American subscribers from (Pennsylvania) and because of that I have to pay state sales-tax too. Shouldn't they have manufactured more than the subscriber number? They have a literal number that should technically be a minimum manufacturing number. Shouldn't that theoretically mean that I'm first subscribed, first served and if I don't get a ship from my subscription, no American being shipped from the PA warehouse does?

I think we saw this before - can't remember for which issue, the Akira or TOS Enterprise or Centaur, maybe? - a lot of people didn't see a couple issues a few years back, yet the online store had them in stock pretty consistently. Due to that incident, I had a suspicion that the store inexplicably seems to take precedence over the subscribers. Now I'm sure of it. In this case, the E-J seems to have been an extremely popular model. The store ran out of stock for one-off purchases and likely went raiding into the stock that was set aside for the subscribers to keep up with demand, leaving us out in the cold. The only exception to this was when there was a drought of available binders and everyone was left waiting a really long time for them - subscribers and store-shoppers alike.

If I were running the show, I'd go out of my way keep the subscribers happy, because they're a consistent source of income for the line and could cancel if they get pissed. Then again, perhaps that's an American way of thinking. Could the UK mentality be that they're assuming that the subscribers are so dedicated, they'll likely never leave, even if they are treated poorly, and the few who drop the line because of glitches like this are considered acceptable losses? I remember in the beginning how shocked most Americans were (including myself) when their credit cards were charged several weeks (sometimes over a month) before the shipment of the associated ships but the UK folks were pretty okay with it, citing that as a regular business practice over there. Whereas that kind of activity over here is usually associated with credit card fraud and Ponzi schemes. So I honestly don't know if there is a difference in cultural business model philosophy going on here or something else.

Got my E-J and Vahklas as subscriber in the UK on time. Never had an issue with getting current issue - and I had subscriptions in UK, Ireland and Germany.
Seems to affect only the US market, does it?

So far, yes. Haven't heard of similar complaints out of Canada, Australia or any of the other markets that I can recall. Those from those areas would know better than I would, in any event, but the majority of the problems that have plagued the subscription do seem to impact the US more frequently for some odd reason. Maybe because it's simply a matter of numbers/population - more subscribers in the US than anywhere else, and a difficulty in keeping up with the demand that doesn't exist elsewhere with a smaller number of subscriptions locally. I honestly don't know.

Definitely issues here in Australia. I've been waiting on some issues now for a year, 4 issues in total at the moment. I've been pretty patient with them but I'm emailing again after this months delivery.

^ Good idea. I've worked for a few service companies and there are always cases that inexplicably fall through cracks in the system, no matter how often you highlight them.
