Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Personally, I'd really like a pic of the Jenolan.
I wonder if they make it pristine or replicate its damage from the episode?

Most likely, the artist who translates the model into CGI would avoid the extra effort of adding damage.

I got a bargain on eBay - DS9 for a fiver plus postage. It's in perfect condition, though the Ops module is a little wonky.

Shame there is no stand, I can see the pylons curving inward over time. I'm wondering if the Micromachines Enterprise-D is roughly the right scale to park at upper pylon 3...

It is. Almost. Ish. A bit big maybe.

Got an email yesterday about my next shipment. A couple more ships are staggered making it so I'm missing four that have been "back-ordered" for months now (85, 88, 89, 93). Still can't understand how online shops have some of these models in before those of us with the initial subscription, but what can I do but wait? Out of all 4 of them, the only one I really am upset about is the Enterprise J. As the final Enterprise in the collection it was a milestone for my collection. Hopefully those four get back in stock and shipped to me by the end of the year at least.

I reckon the different "end users" (online shops, subscribers, brick&mortar shops) have different percentages of the production total set aside for them. And these are prioritised. How it would work in detail - no clue. A shame in any case that you need to wait more than others to get your shipments.

Today, Rhode Island, Arctic One and Franklin arrived.

The Rhode and Equionox have the same size and dimensions (unlike Reliant and Saratoga), but Rhode is lighter because it's primary hull is made of plastic.
Unfortunately, the back of the engineering hull is stuck apart, and I can't fix that. I may have to ask for a replacement (first time ever so they should be lenient). I'll try again to fix first. After all, Germans always win!

On the Borg ship, the parts are neatly integrated. I don't think I can reverse-engineer a plain Arctic out of that.

Very cool!

Rate my collection.
  • Enterprise NX-01
  • USS Enterprise-D
  • USS Defiant
  • USS Voyager
  • Romulan Bird-of-Prey (ENT)
  • Valdore
  • Ferengi Marauder
  • Jem'Hadar Fighter
  • Jem'Hadar Battlecruiser
9 down, 100 to go!
I have no room for the entire collection so I am picking and choosing........mainly federation ships at this point. Looking forward to my Franklin arriving soon!

One thing I never understood about the (pre-assimilation) "Arctic Explorer" vessel is that it had a stylized map of Antarctica painted on it. Wrong pole.

Maybe it uses arctic in the general sense (icy pole region), and shipsvof this type serve in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Edit: The white blob doesn't look like either pole outline. Maybe their shape has changed in 1.5 centuries.

Hmm...in taking a closer look there is a similarity but you're right the outline is markedly different in parts. I'll concede the shape-change notion. :)

The subscribers have their #98 & 99, the USS Rhode Island and Borgified Arctic One. I wasn't sure about the latter but the pics people have posted on the facebook page look pretty cool actually, so I think I'll probably pick it up. Which means as I got the last issue, and will definitely get #100 (Daedalus-class) that'll be 4 issues in a row I get. With some of the filler stuff lately I haven't done that for a very long time!
(looking, the last time I ever got more than 3 in a row was over two years ago)

They also have their USS Franklin too, also looking awesome. Might be another week or two for the rest of us though as the site gave the date as May 22nd for release

I'm sure it'll be pristine, just like the Equinox and Enterprise-C models were.

I posted this is the wrong thread, here it is in the right place...

The jumbo Enterprise-D is now up for pre-order. It looks amazing, but still has the incorrect symmetrical shuttlebays on the spine of the ship. I'll probably get it based on the quality of the jumbo TOS-E.

And I think that'll be me done for Eaglemoss. I have nowhere to store any more than that, and with my two favourite Enterprises and DS9, I'll be satisfied.

Until the jumbo refit 1701 comes out. :D

Anyway, I'm pretty hyped for the BSG Collection now that it's official. Really looking forward to the old and new battlestars. Btw, the BSG wiki does not seem to work anymore? It redirects to a nonfunctional login page.

What BSG ship are you most hyped about?
I would like to see that Silent Running ship!

I wish they would do an Irwin Allen collection! But I guess there are not enough Ships/vehicles to make a subscription worth while. :(

Got #98 the USS Rhode Island today, hmm it does look familiar to another model in the collection.. ;)

Nah it's alright, I like it. Funnily enough the Equinox (along with the Akira) were the models I ever got from this, and the nacelle's on my Equinox were a bit wonky. So it's nice now three years later to have decent Nova-class ship for display.

Apparently the Franklin is in shops today too (though I didn't see it in my WH Smith anyways.) Strange when the Eaglemoss site and the order details e-mail I have say it will be ready for delivery from May 22nd. So who knows when it'll arrive.
