Why is the pretty girl named after a WMD that in a round about way is responsible for the death of a bunch of cadets on a training Cruise a thousand years ago?

I enjoyed this first episode.

It felt like a soap opera in space, rather than science fiction, but it was well executed.

I'll give the series a chance once School Spirits wraps up, so I'll have two series to binge watch.

7 feet tall

Imagine if this alien is hungry, walks into a bakery, finds a tray of half moon cookies looking back at her, and declares it a hate crime.

Wait?

I thought that the point of that story is that they were all dead?

Unless Lokai and Bele had a baby?

Exactly guy. They were supposed to be all dead. That was why the episode was so shocking. But thats gone now. Its like. Eh their race survived. Maybe millions or even billions escaped well before the destruction. Moving on.

I really wish kurtzman would leave tos stories alone. He just has to mine tos until hes exhausted every episode.
Shout out to Paramount for throwing this on YouTube for free... but it was pretty bad. I gave it a 4 just because it was mostly coherent and Section 31 gave us a new floor for how bad "Trek" could be.

Yeah. It hasnt even gotten 150k views yet. I watch food reviews channels that get more views. I would have expected at least a million by now.

If it weren't for the geoblocking, the fact that anyone paying for paramount plus already wouldn't watch it on there and the piratical alternatives that offer it ad free you might have a point.

There was a Cheron in the Section 31 movie. One of Georgiou's barbacks.

I kind of doubt Kurtzman had anything to do with that.

More likely the director just told someone in production to fill the background with aliens, they went down the list of "star trek" makeups, and picked ones they thought would be quick and easy to do not knowing anything about the actual race.

The same thing happened all the time with Alien Extra's in DS9/VOY/ENT.

Might be fun to subvert expectations that the Cheron are a Jurassic Park alien. Some mad geneticist went to their planet and started cloning people.

Maybe have the two survivors try to wipe out these "deviants."

In the u.s. alone it should have gotten a million. Its also available in other countries not just the u.s. Its not blocked everywhere.

Maybe. But he directed the first two episodes. They've used charonians twice now. Theres a good chance we are going go get a follow up to their species. If this show lasts long enough.

Yeah I know. I saw it in the few minutes I watched of it before I decided life was too short to waste by watching all of section 31. Lol

It's just a fun easter egg meant to inspire discussion. It's no different to the think tank guy on Voyager saying the vidiians were cured or Vance mentioning survivors of the Iconian Empire in season 4 of Discovery. It's entirely possible there were some surviving Cheron's around who left their homeworld at some point during the 50,000 years bele was chasing lokai. Star Trek is about hope most of all and is more hopeful than the revelation that at least a segment of species hellbent on destroying itself, managed to rise above their hatred and begin a new life?
