I think people forgot there was at least 1 Cheronian in the Section 31 movie…Georgiou’s assistant at the night club. So clearly the society was still somewhat “around” as far back as the lost era.

I hadn’t watched episode 2 when I posted so I hadn’t seen the live action Brikar. But still cameos/references inserted by writers/production are different than the official 60th anniversary intro. But hey, I’ll admit when I’m wrong. It’s probably just them skipping the animated Trek. No biggie.

Right. There was a Cheronian in the section 31 movie. I watched only 10 minutes of that god awful movie but I noticed that. It is true that we never knew if any Cheronians were off planet but in the tos episode it was strongly suggested which was why the episode hit so hard. The Cheronians destroyed their entire people's and civilization because of their hatred and racism. I liked it more were we are left to believe the cheronians became extinct. To see that they didnt makes the episide not quite hit as hard.

Given our main viewpoint characters were a couple of hardcore racists, they might have considered anyone who left not to be "true" Cheronians!

I think I've rewatched the San Francisco arrival scene 5 times now lmao
Balboa station, watch your step.

I find this strange. The civilization is implied to be huge and old. The survival of two or a handful of hardly less tragic. They burned their world to the ground over it. Not tragic enough? Need extinction too? :wtf:

6.5/10

I don't hate Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Which is probably not the best praise I could give it. However, I wish we had Nu Trek where the Federation felt enlightened and the people cultured. They definitely don't feel like seasoned professionals. Which I suppose is the point.

I think it basically feels a little too crude and the Federation a lot more harsh.

Which, again, is the point but I can't help but think is a consistent problem. Picard season 1 was a great show but it seems like every show set in the verse but SNG is Firefly now.

Extinction was clearly implied. It made the story much more tragic.

I cannot be bothered to read 26 pages, so this might have been covered, but it is interesting to me that, as a Klingon-tellarite hybrid, Nus Braka self-referred to himself as "Klingarite" (sp?).
That's how the subtitles spelled. Glad they're moving way from the human-aliens hybrid thing.

I'm calling it now that I think Caleb's:

mom murdered the pilot and Braka took the heat for her. Given they escaped together, I'm definitely of the mind the relationship was far closer and more intimate than she alluded to her son. Basically, you don't hire Tatiana for a minor role of the perfect mother.

Oh, i agree.

I don't think she was the unwilling or reluctant accomplice 15 years prior, I think she was the mastermind which is why Braka is so enraged at the Mirs. That will be the big reveal in the finale, its like the old Whedon shows had the Little Bad and then the Big Bad - Braka is the Big Bad in Season 1, but the Little Bad in the overall context.

I also think the bigger twist will be whomever Calebs dad is, and that it will somehow tie into Ake's presumed dead son. Will Ake be Calebs grandmother in the end?
