Gave it an 8, enjoyed it but definitely liked the Saru one better.

I did really appreciate the Enterprise 'Bounty' episode reference throughout it, being mostly aboard a Tellarite ship. :)

I'd rank them:

1. "Calypso" Best overall story and sci-fi piece. Great performances, engaging story....etc
2. "The Escape Artist" Brought me right back to TOS's charming, silly little episodes like Tribbles and I,Mudd.
3. "Brightest Star" Looked great, and I like Saru, but this made very little sense to me.
4. "Runaway" OK I guess. Cute, but almost nothing happens. Like, nothing.

I agree with this 100%.

Loved it.
Gave it a Ten.

They've brought back the duplicitous (but somewhat lovable) Mudd we all know and dispelled my fears that he had been turned into a heartless, cold blooded butcher.

All the shorts were really good, this one just wetted my appetite even more for Season 2.
:techman:

I absolutely loved it, though I was left confused as to when it takes place
because of the androids.

At first guess, I'm assuming it's between the last episode we saw him in, and before "Mudd's Women," but
that means, I guess, that the back story to "I, Mudd" was a complete lie, I guess?

I think I was confused in part because I swear somebody at one point said it gets into how he escaped from the Klingons, or something, and I assumed that it was going to be a prequel to "Sanest."

Mudd’s ship appears to be Kitbash of Federation and Klingon ship parts

The USS De Milo appears to be a Hoover Class starship, but with a different saucer? Hard to tell

It looks like the De Milo is a cross between Hoover and Crossfield classes. The layout is Hoover, but the saucer looks like a modification of the multi ringed Crossfield. Of course the interior sets are a reuse of the Discovery. Makes sense. Trekkies will be dying to get a closer, cleaner look, which may come with the Season Two blu-ray.

I can't figure out if the secondary hull is Hoover-class or rather Crossfield-class with Hoover-styled nacelles. Hopefully John Eaves or Eaglemoss will provide more details down the road!

The ship is out of focus the entire scene, so it won't be any clearer on Blu-Ray.

I don't think the saucer is any different from the picture of the Hoover I posted above, the saucer windows all line up. There are just new red lights.

I found that delightful.

The "I, Mudd" outfit made me intensely curious if this is supposed to take place after that episode, or if the outfit was just an in-joke. I think it makes more sense if this was his escape (or, potentially, a botched escape that resulted only in hundreds of Mudd replicants being let loose upon the galaxy) than if this is the secret backstory to "I, Mudd" and he lied through his teeth to Kirk about how he ended up trapped on the android's asteroid.
This is the timeline placement I would go with as well--although it opens the door to further Starfleet uniform confusion, I prefer that to the massive retcon required if it were supposed to take place in the 2250's.

LOL. "*scoffs* Regicide. He was a Duke, it hardly qualifies as regicide. What are we trying to murder now, accuracy?" Wilson's Mudd is a treasure, he really is.

And the nightmare chorus of "sipping jippers on a beach somewhere!" at the end is priceless.

So Mudd's ship. The Main body is made from a Klingon DaSpu' Class. I see the nacelles and struts from the Federation Engle-Class, nacelles from a Shepard-Class, a Nimitz-Class, a Hoover-Class and possibly a Cardenas-Class.

There's also this curious thing on the bottom left that almost looks like it came from a Galaxy-Class

I don’t care what kind of ship it is or about the design of any other ship in Star Trek. Too much focus on technology spoils the story and the characters. I would like to know more about when the story is set and about Mudd as a character.

I really would posit it's set in the same year as ST: D Season 2. So, Mudd ran away from Stella and her father again, shortly after the shotgun wedding...(BIG SURPRISE THERE!) ;)

While you're figuring out when that story is set, I'll be sipping jippers on a beach somewhere!

(but I think it took place AFTER MTMTSMGM as he mentioned penetrating a space whale, though in fairness, he may have penetrated more than one gormagander over the years. We had to be there)

I remember a comic with a descendant of Mudd trading illegal animals on DS9. So in my head canon, dastardly Mudd left behind his pregnant wife, probably stealing a lot of her latinum, and went out as far into space as he could. Maybe the offspring gets tired of Stella and his stepdad and goes looking for Dad in another 16 to 18 years and helps him carry out a criminal enterprise.
