We’re on page 94 of a discussion about a shitty movie. What exactly are you expecting?
The best part is, obviously, that the thread only gets more off course.

Anyway, I'd just like to welcome everyone to the board.

It is my personal message board (shared with @fireproof78 @Dukhat @Turtletrekker @Nerys Myk), but you can all use it too.

Magnanimoussssss!!!

It's a rare thing to find such generosity of spirit that you guys would be willing to share your site with the rest of us. I feel honored to be able to partake of this illustrious group's message board.

Thanks for letting me aboard. I only hope to be worthy of your kindness...

Now that i have your undivided attention, here is my review of the failed Section 31 Computer Story:

The nightmare of Star Trek

How much did we have to endure during the last decade of Star Trek? Of course too much. We had nonsensical storylines with abandoned children being responsible for the depletion of Dilthium. We had crying Captains and bad storytelling all over.

But this Section 31 direct to stream catastrophe is not Star Trek. It is tv straight from hell. Where is the hope? Why is space Hitler still evil? Why is chaos a friend with benefits?

We will never know, but beware: This is not the end of Star Scam, it is the beginning.

Star Trek Starfleet academy and the Tawny Newsome clown special will ultimately destroy everything we ever know about Trek.

We are fucked, Trump is destroying our real life and Kurtzman will join in to finish off our fantasies…

Why? Because you did not revolt when there was still time. We have become a zombie audience, longing for more insults and boredom. It is our destiny, we will never have Star Trek again.

Star Trek is dead

Let’s keep out politics (i.e. mentioning Trump for no apparent reason) and let’s also dispense with the personal attacks (that includes mentioning who has someone else on ignore).

But also, please let’s not fall for every fucking attempt by people who want to draw attention to themselves or otherwise goad posters. Not every conversation has to go down that same path here. Focus on whatever points are being made — positive ones as well as negative, non-sensical or ludicrous ones — and discuss those and not the posters themselves. I believe we will fare much better with that approach.

SECTION 31 was pretty damn bad.

DISCO was quite polarizing. While it failed in a lot of things, it did succeed in others.

ACADEMY has not even premiered yet, so we can't say anything about it. My interest in it is minimal, but I'll give it a fair shot. How about we watch it first before declaring it terrible?

The Tawny Newsome comedy show hasn't even been greenlit yet... and it may not.

But you forgot to mention SNW, LDS, and PRODIGY. All of which are great shows. (Plus 2 out of 3 seasons of PICARD.)

Every era of the franchise has had good and bad in it. EVERY era. STAR TREK is not dead.

At least i was on topic..
Revolt against what exactly? I largely don’t watch Trek now. What should I do next?! Toss Molotov cocktails through the windows of Paramount?

That would be grossly inappropriate. All we need are 5000 fans with the will to change.

We don’t even need slogans, we just need to scream in agony as loud as we can. That would be something for the media: 5000 protesters screaming in front of the Paramount studios like as if they just got kicked in the balls by really big baseballs.

The Paramount folks would be grossly incompetent to listen to five thousand people vs. the number of actual subscribers that go to Paramount because of Star Trek.

Economics has always driven Trek. From “The Cage” forward.

If recognizable TV celebrities with pockets of millions of dollars and a huge throng of protesters outside the Paramount gates couldn't save one series when it was the only Trek property in production or even planned then this idea is D.O.A.

Ah...so act like children with poor emotional regulation and throw a tantrum until they get their way.

Not behavior I would want to reward.

Section 31 and Picard season 2 are the only instances of new Trek being actively bad. Some of the rest has very been different, and perhaps not to everyone's taste, but I wouldn't call any of it actively bad. I enjoyed Discovery for the most part.
