Trek Is Dead (Long Live Trek) With apologies to the Who

Fanboys on the internet screaming about the canon
Getting all worked up, doesn’t know that it’s fanon
We were the first ones complaining about Picard
Not as good a Captain as Kirk by and far
Meanwhile folks are digging that TNG dreck
Trek is dead they say
Long live Trek

Long live Trek! I need it every night
Long live Trek! Come on and join the life
Long live Trek! Be it dead or alive

People in the fanbase always threatening that they’re leaving
Complaining that the new Trek ain’t something they believe in
Rick is in the boardroom selling Deep Space 9
The fans can't do nothing, still they bitch and whine,
Star Trek Enterprise they reject
Trek is dead they say
Long live Trek

Long live Trek! I need it every night
Long live Trek! Come on and join the life
Long live Trek! Be it dead or alive

Nemesis, interest falling, falling down upon our very heads
Berman tried but you were yawning, look again
Trek is dead
Trek is dead
Trek is dead

The place is really jumping to Star Trek in '09
JJ's got things pumping and Kirk is Chris Pine
On the TV Alex gives us Disco, SNW and Picard
Mike made LD funny, one of best Treks by a yard
Yeah Section 31's a stinker, but Yeoh got her check
Trek is dead they say
Long live Trek, long live Trek, long live Trek, long live Trek

Long live Trek
Long live Trek
Long live Trek
Long live Trek
Long live Trek
Long live Trek! I need it every night
Long live Trek! Come on and join the line
Long live Trek! Be it dead or alive

The same thing - only bigger - happened to try to save ENT in 2005. Celebrities even offered to donate several million dollars towards funding a Season 5 if UPN didn't cancel it. It didn't work. This idea wouldn't, either.
I remember that. I was the one who „hacked“ the TrekUnited forum when Tim Brazeal tried to scam the community into believing that some high profile, yet completely unknown producer (i believe the name was Al Vinci) would be willing to fund a fifth season of Enterprise.

Too bad his chat module‘s archaic authentication method didnt differentiate between blank spaces and special characters (yes that was an issue back in 2005), so i took over his chat and forum with the nickname Tim_Brazeal instead of Tim Brazeal. Eventually i exposed Al Vinci to be a sockpuppet account under Tims IP address. Good times.

They tried to sue me but i successfully argued that i didn’t actually hack their system…

I was talking to a buddy about Section 31 IRL in the car while I was driving.

We both share the same sentiment about this movie.

But here are 2x more minor nit-picks that were easily to fix-able.

1) Somebody within Section 31 should've told Fuzz to pick a body of either a eccentric Irish Human with partially dyed blonde hair as his cover (Basically the Actor not needing prosthetic ears), or commit to playing the role of the Vulcan and do it correctly.
Trying to combine both in one body breaks credibility as a Secret Agent / Operative.
His cover stands out like a sore thumb, anybody who knows the absolute basic background knowledge about Vulcans can easily tell he's not a normal Vulcan.
Something is very off about him. That's not a good basic effort for a secret agent/operative.

Also Fuzz's wife should've picked a body that matched her personality and not recycle Fuzz's body.
That just reeks of laziness / cheapness.

2) Zeph needs a better / more believable Exo-Skeleton Suit that is easier to get in/out of.
I don't care if you give him a morphing scene but having him stand in the bar in his mecha suit, he sticks out like a sore thumb compared to everybody there.
He has zero civilian clothing to help him blend in when necessary.
In a world where Replicators & Transporters are common, having a Transformation Scene like Power Rangers / Kamen Rider would easily make logical sense.
You don't want to wear heavy / bulky gear all the time.

Also his mecha suit seems full of vulnerable bits & bobs that you can easily rip off and incapacitate his suit.
Look at how Master Chief from Halo's suit is designed, or Tony Stark's suit from Iron Man.
They rarely have random cables / wiring popping out that looks highly vulnerable for a enemy to detach or manipulate.
Same with the Borg. It just seems illogical to have bits of wire or hose hanging out for people to tug on.

His Exo-Suit looks like bad Borg Cosplay.

Also having hands is really useful for manipulating tools, having your hand covered by a tool is a dumb idea.
The hands being able to manipulate nearly any tools is what makes it special.

Same with having your eye replaced by a EO (Electro Optical) sensor, having 2x eyes for natural Depth Perception is more useful than replacing one good eye with a EO sensor paired with it.
No wonder the average Borg Drone lumbers around slowly, they lack depth perception.
If you need that extra Occular sensor, install a modular attachment point above the 2x eyes, right on the forehead & install the modular sensor where you can attach various EO (Electro-Optical) modules that perceive different parts of the EM spectrum.
You don't need to lose a natural biological eye to gain Visual Advantage into other parts of the EM spectrum.

It just seems goofy to do a low effort Borg Cosplay Power Suit.

Truly, the hero the world needs right now.

I'm trying to cut down on having almost 2500(!) saved tabs on my laptop, and came across this S31 review from the San Francisco Chronicle. Some really on point highlights:

It’s difficult to pinpoint precisely who “Star Trek: Section 31” is aimed at. The first “Trek” film since 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond” feels less like an inspired return to the feature frontier and more like a patchwork product of corporate calculus.

On one hand, it’s so woven into the labyrinthine mythology of the venerable franchise’s 59-year history as to be impenetrable to anyone not steeped in its minutiae. On the other, its cynical tonal shift and negligible engagement with the aspirational elements of “Star Trek” will leave longtime fans scratching their heads — if not outright alienated.

At its core, “Star Trek: Section 31” suffers from a kind of existential emptiness. It appropriates some of the surface-level iconography of “Trek” but fails to uphold its spirit. It nods to continuity, but the dense lore feels like a gatekeeping exercise and the breezy tone undermines the gravitas of its own premise.

Mic... dropped

well the review highlights seem to encompass most of the project's issues into a quite succinct few sentences...

meanwhile the ratings figures should drop tomorrow

S31 was just as bad as most of Discos filler episodes. All the issues which transpired along with the story have already been prevalent in Discoverys seasons 3-5.

S31 wasn’t particularly bad in terms of being a streaming movie. Streaming movies are notoriously bad. Not very surprising though, many storylines of streaming movies are in fact rejected ideas for bigger budet cinematic movies or tv shows.

A Direct to streaming movieI is usually the worst of both worlds.

TOS had middling numbers for three years and that didn't prevent NBC, Desilu and Paramount from cranking out some pretty great product. Every show no matter how successful in the numbers has its bad installments.
