Spoilers Star Trek: Scouts Discussion Thread

So literally every episode so far has something hurtling towards Earth that they need to stop? Is every episode going to be entitled "Asteroid Blasters" parts 1-20?

Yeah, I get the need for toddlers to have a sense of consistency and simplicity, but even this seems a bit of a stretch. I was personally watching TAS when I was aged 4 and I think, even that young, I would have felt insulted by this.

So my big question is - will they have orthos of the paper airplane, bar of soap and hammer, and include them as a Tier-6 lockbox item in the next release of STO?

Asking for a friend. :shifty:

Growing up with the various movies and shows I did I thought asteroids were going to be a bigger problem than they actually are.
For me as a 90s child, it was pools of glowing green toxic waste with black and yellow warning barriers around them.

As a kid I essentially believed any factory or abandoned building looked exactly like this, and the green stuff would kill you when you touched it.

Could be something for the Scouts to take on in their next run of 50 back-to-back identical episodes!

Assuming JR is Ransom from Lower Decks as a preschooler and assuming Ransom is in his 30s in Lower Decks, we can probably speculate a mid 2350s timeframe for this tv show. It seems like the idea of holodecks being new in TNG in the 2360s is increasingly overwritten (although I think it already was with Voyager crew reminiscing about their childhood holodeck programs)

On the other hand there's a runabout model visible in episode 3, which could suggest a later time frame. Maybe JR is Ransom's kid!

Yes. Voyager overwrote it long before evil Kurtzman. So did TAS. TNG liked to treat things as new even when they were not.
I've long taken the holodecks in TNG as "impressively improved," not "new." Possibly improved in ways that aren't obvious to a TV viewer, like smell or the feel of mist as you approach a river or that sort of thing.
Or he's just a kid named JR who isn't related to anybody we know.
It's to foreshadow the shocking episode where he gets shot.
