Star Trek Rotten Tomatoes Rating

FIRST CONTACT also got a shitload of comparisons to ID4 in part because they came out the same year just five months apart. ID4 comparisons got stale fast. They're even staler now.

I don't understand that at all. They aren't even remotely simialr. That's like comparing the new movie to Terminator: Salvation.

I remember the fall of '96. "The new TREK movie has so much in common with ID4! Action! Suspense! Great characters! Epic personal conflicts in outer space!"

Ugh. Aside from featuring outer space and high-tech weapons there was almost no comparison. Besides, FC was a better movie.

I've caught most of the ESPN ads by just flipping randomly across the dial. Great stuff!

No it wasn't. But besides, in 1996, critics weren't used to Star Trek films having much action, much less people running around with rifles all the time. Alien invasion stuff. Hence the comparions, I guess.

Four more positives. Currently holding at 100% and a 7.6 average.

Boxoffice Magazine: "It’s guaranteed to start a box office stampede"

Variety: "Blasting onto the screen at warp speed and remaining there for two hours, the new and improved Star Trek will transport fans to sci-fi nirvana."

Screen International: "JJ Abrams injects a gigantic dose of energy into this long-running franchise and brings it roaring back to life."

Hollywood Reporter: "Paced at warp speed with spectacular action sequences rendered brilliantly and with a cast so expert that all the familiar characters are instantly identifiable, the film gives Paramount Pictures a new lease of life on its franchise."

I've read like 40 reviews and 40/40 are positive, its about time they updated and put them all up :)

The reviews are consistently positive although they seem about evenly split between really loving it and liking it with serious reservations about the plot/characters. I can live with that. I have no doubt this will be a fun, exciting, entertaining film. I have my tickets for the first showing - May 7, 7 PM. I hope I will feel justified in going several more times.

Ya rotten tomatoes seems to be a bit behind as there have been TONS of reviews posted here but only 7 on their site. Maybe each reviewer has to submit it to them individually and some have not yet?

*shrugs* just me, I guess.
A few of us still exist but never enough. For me, this film will never represent a fair exchange for those missing seasons of ENT.

In that opinion, I am well and truly alone for sure...

Yeah I totally agree with you. Honestly I would have had star trek as a movie/tv franchise "end" forever just to get those last 3 seasons of Enterprise. This movie might be great but it'll never fill that void ENT's cancellation left. :(

Yes, the reviewer has to send their review to the site before its posted.

And of course many of the reviews we have had are from sources that are connected to the Site (Specifically many of the overseas ones, though not all).

As it gets closer to the release date expect a lot more to show up (I would guess probably up to 40 or so before its released (a huge number typically show up during the weekend of the release (at least for most films). And expect the negative reviews to start up, as even the best rated films of all time have several negative reviews about them.
