Star Trek: Renegades

On their FB page they are talking a lot about all sorts of special things happening in March, including a viewing at an upcoming con. I'm alright with a link to a streaming version if it's for KS folks as long as it's before the general public can see it. Many of you who know better didn't take the meeting with CBS seriously. But hundreds of people who are not aware of how those things really work, fell for it. I didn't donate on KS, I donated via Paypal directly right after the KS ended. So no perks for me (which is alright). But I'll have serious reservations about donating again. Does Tim Russ think having his project called a fan movie is beneath him?
Anyway, I'll drop it. Not worth getting upset over.

The CBS screener version is actually just getting done right now (and is looking pretty darn good IMO) , there was a delay, due to some VFX shots needing to finished. They are working on setting up the pitch for CBS. I really don't have much more info to share on that part. As for conventions, there have been no solid commitments with any conventions. We can't make that type of commitment until it is pitched (since you don't know the outcome). If CBS passes, then main concentration is to get the 'final' version of the film complete and given to our backers either via download, DVD or Blu-ray (whatever perk they had selected). The remaining public and conventions would come after. This has always been the plan. Despite what may happen with CBS, we will endeavor to make sure all those who have backed STR are taken care of.

If anything, I would say sorry for the delays, there are so many VFX shots (beyond ship shots) to create. We have been pretty picky about putting out a good production. I know many of you here, who have their own productions, know what its like to weigh time vs. perfection. We often wish we had all the time (and resources) in the world to get everything just right.

it's just Star Trek: Renegades. If CBS accepted it they could append a name to the first story easy enough. Often many series first episodes don't have names, they are just called 'Pilot', however it is more traditional with scifi shows to have the pilot have a name.

Tom, I appreciate you coming on here and communicating things. I got into a big argument over on FB with someone who flat out said there is no meeting with CBS. The person is well known and well respected in the Trek Fan movie community, so their opinion carries weight. As you can see, other well known and respected members of Trek fan filmdom hold the same opinion. An update at the end of Feb would have been very helpful. (That was the original time period for the meeting with CBS).

So...Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

There has not been any meeting yet with CBS, it is being worked on. I have always been honest here in saying we know the chances are low for anything to happen with them, but we are going to try our hardest to get something done. My viewpoint has a been if it does not happen, it does not happen (CNS picking it up), in either case our backers and fans will get something out of this. Yes, I know I sound like a broken record.

I'm just very happy to see a good fan movie that isn't TOS based.

Oh It's definitely not TOS, even though Chekov is in it. It is quite different than any Star Trek before it. I would say in tone and feel it's more closer to DS9 than anything else. It definitely has vibes of Firefly (it was filmed on the same set after all ;)), Blake's 7 and Guardians of the Galaxy. STR is filled with a lot of action. If you want your standard life on a starship type Trek, then this is not for you. :)

Being that DS9 is my favorite series, music to my ears. And yes hoping for lots of action.
Person updating your FB page has S31 agents instead of S21. Unless there is yet another secret Federation Agency :-)

Well, there goes my memory again. Crap.

I like that there are new aliens in this thing. I wish they could have kickstarted enough funds to rent some lights.

We had plenty of lights ;) The only two area's in the film that have low lighting are on the bridge of the renegades ship, the Icarus, and on the planet Syphon (which is a very nasty place!) where you see them in the tunnels. Other area's such as the Archer bridge are pretty bright. Starfleet headquarters (when not in an alert status) are also pretty bright. All of this was by design.

Here is the production update that goes along with that video:

We are excited to release our Renegades music video by Cela Scott, who plays Lexxa’s mother in the film. The song based on the poem “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, which plays a prominent part in Renegades.

In the video, you will get a first look at some of the amazing VFX created by our very talented team, as well as some never-before-seen footage from both the film and our flashback shoot!

Production update:

Every VFX shot is now in the film! Out of the total 637 VFX shots, we only have 20 remaining that need to be polished and finalized. Also, we are starting the process of updating the Archer Bridge with monitors and other visuals (which is also a part of post production).

We are completing the color correction for the CBS temp film and it will be ready for presentation at the end of the month.

Thank you for your amazing support and your continued patience.

The music video was spectacular. The footage, effects, and acting look extremely high quality. Lexxa is really beautiful and so is her mom.
