Star Trek: Renegades

Is it bad that I still hope someone can fan-edit the Trek elements back in?

(I am looking forward to watching it in any form; no disrespect was meant here. I'm happy it is still happening. Any chance to see Koenig is a good thing.)

Already in planning - very little was apparantly changed to remove the Trek references - the uniforms are reminiscent of tng, the Archer bridge still uses bits of the Ent-D, just moved around, all the same people are there with new names. No Chakotay won't have a tattoo and Tuvok doesn't have pointed ears, so I guess you'll have to treat this as a 'reconstruction' of a lost Trek movie using rehearsal footage. I'm not a member of a crew but I'm a backer who's been following very closely - even the new ship designs haven't taken us lighyears away, there is unused Romulan BoP footage I can put back in.

I will have to remove names, certain lines and scenes (plus the 'Con' from Confederation!) but otherwise I think I'm safe, you just will have to ignore a few cosmetic changes. I'll be doing this meticulously with a fine tooth comb. I've already done this with an indie sci fi movie with Dr Who stars.

In fact I've already done the first Renegades - the plan is to put that and The Requiem together as the final tos movie (Koenig and Nichols filmed for a day as Admiral Chekov and Admiral Uhura - why on earth should fans be deprived of that!?), plus it plays another role in featuring ds9 and Voyager characters who we haven't Seen since their shows ended. So this could count as their movie too?

Renegades is the fan film I was most hoping for mainly because of all the returning characters, I was devastated when it went independent but what I've learnt is practically nothing has been lost, the show goes on.

An advantage also is it's set about a decade after Voyagers return so things would have changed anyway.

I'm on it and nothing can stop me ;)

Keaira started designing this ship since the first day we removed 'Trek' from Renegades, looked great back then, and looks amazing now.
Thank you Tom. We have a pretty good VFX team ^_^. As a side note, I was the one they asked to remove the "Star Trek" from the logo and add "the Series" :P

Out of sheer curiosity, were any previous Trek concepts looked at? The lower view reminds me of something concept sketchy, but I can't place it.

Loving that new primary hull - looks very sharp.

To answer your question, no. I didnt look at any Trek ships. The main inspiration comes from a knife or dagger. I wanted it to look fast and kind of intimidating. I love all kinds of design styles so I'm sure some Trek, some Final Fantasy and some Anime made it into the final design.

So....

Do we get Captain Squall of the Ragnarok next time?

The patch of Renegades' Confederation. It looks familiar, somehow:

They should make the upper segment of the gold section either higher or longer in relation to the lower half, gives it symmetry in asymmetry. At the moment it's a plate of food. Given the confederations nature, I would round off some of the corners on the main design also, as all the points read as a much more 'hard' group, (Klingon empire versus Starfleet basically.) and lends it toward something that is designed only for print or screen, as opposed to textile or sculpted use (unless it's a printed patch, not stitched) The off white is also an odd choice, bright white would be too harsh, but off white reads as dirty. A pale blue or grey would work (silver...) and I would use the central diamond motif in a black or a symbolic colour (say to differentiate between specialisations....)

Is the episode out yet?

Just the usual post stuff, color correction, sound etc.. that sort of thing. The wait is almost over

i am very much looking forward to it, but you knew that ;) A few bumps in the road but it's been an incredible journey since Day 1!

Good to hear. I have a question about the rebranding of Renegades. Are you planning on using the rebranding of Renegades as an opportunity to do things that Star Trek conventions, history and lore would have otherwise prevented you from doing?
