Star Trek redone on DVD?

I'm a new reader and was wondering, I saw some original episodes on spike TV, with new effects, will these remastered episodes be available on DVD? I was about to buy the originals, but if these new ones come out for home release I may wait. Does anyone know. Also i used the search feature on the forum, but did not know what to search for, so I thought I'd just ask.

Specifically, on a Combo HD-DVD/regular DVD disc set.

A BluRay release will follow, although I don't know if this one will be a combo with regular DVD like the first.

I hope they release them on DVD, there's nothing official yet.

Why are you contradicting other board members who've already correctly said the DVD release HAS been discussed?

Perhaps because he's been registered for less than a week and may have missed those discussions? ;)

Well technically, there has been no 'official' announcement.

Lots of hints, and semi offical talk.
For DVDs, it's not 100% real until the actual announcement.

It is possible they may delay the release of season 1 to upgrade some the early weaker new fx or because they haven't finished all the season 1 episodes.

But in all likelihood they will want season 1 out in time for the holidays.

Paramount is easily shooting themselves in the foot for a S1 set which is double what they were wanting for the original S1 set...when these redone episodes can be found for free on local stations. Not to mention these are combo discs, meaning HD and regular DVD on the same disc. There have been multiple problems with them since the first came out.

$200 for one season of a 40 year old series? Sorry, not buying.

^^Big surprise!

But actually the MSRP for the regular DVDs was $149.99.

The release day price at most chain stores was $99.99---33% off.

If they are willing to do the same for this release @ $145---I will pony up that large amount.

"$200+ for a 40 year old tv series."

Many folks here think that '40 year old series' is about the best thing TV has ever produced of its kind.

In any event in a year or two the price will drop lower anyway.

Us 'early adopters' always pay the price for getting in early.

Taking my family to one NFL game could cost me more than this set and you only get 3 hours of entertainment there.

Also I guess I've been lucky, I never had a problem with a combo-disc so far.

Too bad the original effects aren't on these discs in addition to the new shots. For that price you'd think you'd get everything.

I'll pass.

MSRP here is $217...suggested retail price on this set is $199. If I can find a confirmation link, I will.

I'll disagree to a certain extent. TOS was great, but $200 great? I'm not sure. :)

I'll wait for that price drop AND a Blu Ray version. My PS3 doesn't like HD-DVD discs for some reason. :D :D

^ True that...however XBox Live has them complete for $1.99 each, I think. Someone with more XBox knowledge can enlighten us, I'm sure.

^they won't release a blu-ray version until the bd-java is finalized, cbs wants this set to have interactive features, which, as of now, blu-ray can't offer

which would come to about $54 a season, but can you save those to disc, or are they stuck on the 360 forever?

Which makes no sense since at least 14 discs have already been released which will utilize BD Java. Additionally, the Java specs are expected to be finalized in October, well ahead of this set.

As for the burning to disc from X Box Live, I have no idea if the system can be hooked up to a DVD-R drive.
