Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy General Discussion Thread

July or August (it's supposed to air on Nickelodeon a few weeks after streaming on Paramount+ ).
OK, thank you. :techman:

I don't have cable so I'll have to decide whether or not to reup with CBS/Paramount at that point.

I just paid for a month of HBOMAX to see Godzilla vs Kong (among other things)
(the $15 bucks I paid was a lot cheaper than actually going to a theater to see it)

I'm hoping to be back to work by then, so I could probably be able to afford it.

Hmm... 2383 puts it about two years after Lower Decks' second season. Not that crossovers are likely, given the premise and the different target ages, but it's weird how all the current shows are in different time frames, even if it's just by a couple of years.

I really hope this show is going to be more than just a Voyager sequel.

The only points of commonality with Voyager are the quadrant and the Janeway hologram (yes, it's a hologram). That makes it less of a VGR sequel than DS9 was a TNG sequel.

I wasn't paying attention 100%, but they said there will be a TOS connection in someway in the series.

When I heard speculation that Janeway could be a hologram, I thought Kate Mulgrew wouldn’t do it. She would want to voice the REAL Janeway. So I was surprised today to see that Janeway will be a hologram. Sounds interesting.

Maybe they told her by making her "only" a hologram in this show, they'd keep all options open for a return in a live-action show. Which is true.

You know, I hate all that time difference. I remember when, in the late 1990s, it was the 24th century. All shows and movies took place in the same time, at the same pace, even 70,000 lightyears apart. Much of the merchandise also kept up, allowing you to aquire the 'latest' map of the galaxy.

This ended with Enterprise, though some hoped that would be an anomaly. Today, however, it's all over the place. Even worse, we know how it will all end, in The Burn.

I mean, I know how Kirk dies. Doesn't change my feelings on TOS.
It's not that. The Burn didn't really affect my feelings on preexisting shows (though there have been incidents like Fury and the Icheb gouging which dented my feelings on preexisting stories and characters).

No, this is closer to creating a whole new show around a character after establishing that he comes to a terrible end. Only it's worse, because it is now established that all the progress since the 23rd century has basically come to nothing, and only Michael Burnham Allmighty can get them back on track.
