Star Trek Picard is not Star Trek

have a good time watching how they torture , cut heads , kill loved characters, ignore 24th Century canon, convert 7 of 9 in some kind of Terminator firing at all moving thing

You've never seen Trek, have you?

And it's not as if Seven has never behaved aggressively even as a more subdued and emotionally-controlled former drone. In "Infinite Regress(VOY)" she displays buried personalities of assimilated individuals from across the galaxy and even behaves kind of violently. It's been 21 years since she got home to the Alpha Quadrant with Voyager. She's a much more uninhibited individual who isn't afraid to show what she's feeling at a given moment.

Double-wielding phaser rifles and shooting up the thugs and criminals who murdered somebody she considered her child is far from the most shocking thing she could do.

She electrocuted a Hirogen. She shot a man in "Relatvity". She grabbed a man's throat in another episode. She took an alien hostage in "Scientific Method".

She's no angel. She never has been. :shifty:

Virtually every TNG character with the exception of Riker had some form of death or loss in their past which is mentioned or seen at least once, if not more.

Picard- Robert and Rene (Generations), Jack Crusher (close personal friend)

Riker- The lucky one, lost no one (IIRC)
Edit: As @Noname Given corrected, his mother died when he was young

Data- Soong, Lal and Tasha Yar

Beverly Crusher- Jack Crusher

Geordi- His mother

Worf- K'Ehleyr

Troi- her father, Kestra, Andrew (The Child)..
If you live long enough ...
Someone you know/love dying, becomes inevitable and it truly is part of Living.
:(

Seven learned from Janeway:

They loved making her into an action hero - one of my favourite Voyager moment is in The Chute where she slides into a prison packing a rifle half her size.

She even had action hero one-liners - who could forget "Time to take out the garbage" as she fires at a Malon ship?

Rick Berman learned from First Contact that every one of his Captains needs to have Kirk moments of physical action and to be heroes who blast their way to victory over an enemy.

Star Trek Picard is a very bad show done by people who doesnt know anything about Star Trek, putting Patrick as producer to hide the real embarrasement this is. I'm really proud of how a lot of people is saying the same and ofc those who are enjoying It , have a good time watching how they torture , cut heads , kill loved characters, ignore 24th Century canon, convert 7 of 9 in some kind of Terminator firing at all moving thing and some other really truly Star Trek hahahah
Enjoy It !!! Real Star Trek is there and is the only one who will be remembered because no one will care about this new garbage.
Why do I get the horrible feeling this is a young mind completely corrupted by a few idiots on Youtube?
Perhaps it's time to get off your phone and read a few good books.
Or at least a Dictionary.

Because YouTube is regarded so positively by youngers as a legitimate career and platform.

I can't be more disappointed with this new series. [/QUOTE said:
I completely agree with you Forever94, in the first post in this discussion. ST:PIC is Dystopian Trek and not Roddenberry Trek (which I also call True Trek), which I feel largely ended with his passing. Gone is the hopeful future where humanity has matured far beyond its current state and for the most part as Forever94 notes where "humans live in peace, respecting all forms of Life, aspiring to be better persons and know the universe we are surrounded by, surpassing racism, arrogance, hate, war..." and use technology responsibly. The Federation is now xenophobic and withdrawn, and the synth attack represents technology out-of-control and/or easily subverted - and also suggests that humanity has once again embraced slavery in a new form. This is outrageous and at complete odds with true Star Trek values, where humanity has evolved far beyond that possibility. ST:PIC is potentially valid as a cautionary tale, but True Trek has generally featured humanity's responsible mastery of technology and the resolution of current problems, not its most terrible failures. So instead of a Trek that embodies a hopeful future to which we can aspire, we are left with a perpetually depressing series infused with failure on almost every level. Instead of featuring the wonders of the universe, productive and mutually enriching cooperation between intelligent species, and wondrous technological development, we are provided with a morbid space soap opera featuring characters filled with angst. I consider ST:PIC a complete failure of the franchise, and a depressing outcome for the Picard character, in spite of spectacular production values, and in spite of the fun of seeing characters again that we have missed for some time. I also consider the recent wave of movies to be devoid of the Roddenberry spirit, and little more than mundane conflict drama acted out by people in appropriated Starfleet uniforms. I also completely reject the "Kelvin Timeline" as Fake Trek. There was no need to destroy Vulcan, etc. That was done merely for cheap shock value. But I digress. It seems that we will never see True Trek again from the powers that be, though it will still be possible in Fan Fiction, which I encourage. True Trek fans can still keep the spirit alive through their own story writing, regardless of what the franchise controlling powers, interested primarily in profit and speaking to the lowest common denominator, dictate for the rest of us.
:wtf:

To be fair, Midnight's Edge and Doomcock would put anyone off thinking they can enjoy both a career as well as respect by being on YouTube.

Janeway McClane!
Kirk kills his best friend in his first episode, and that after the two superpowered crew members tried frying each other with psychic lightening.
The Force was strong in those two. Fell to the Darkside they did.

She shot a man in "Relatvity".
Just to see him die? Oh, wait. That was Reno.
