Star Trek Picard is not Star Trek

Want better for the franchise? Even if I didn't like TNG (I don't) I cannot argue that its success harmed the franchise.

Picard may not be for everyone but it is very good for the franchise.
We'll see way fewer people are watching these Trek shows than even Enterprise was getting watched weekly. I bet one or two episodes of Enterprise got about the same amount of views as the first 5 Picard episodes combined.

We had members of the UFP threaten to leave the Federation because of Bajorans?
No. The idea of Bajorians fleeing their planet because of the occupation and living in poverty in other planets.
That whole idea of members wanting to leave if we help the Romulans is so stupid. Planets who are that racist that they refuse to help people in need wouldn’t be in the Federation in the first place.

Picard is not grimdark. Discovery is not grimdark. By definition, Warhammer 40000 is grimdark, and nothing in Star Trek is anything like it.
It's not really that grim or dark but it's trying to be and playing it for lighter hearted moments that don't make sense. And everyone talks like they are idiots. Really it's bad at being what it's trying to be. I see what they are going for but it's being done better in a lot of sci fi today. My biggest issues are that this is reaching for mediocrity so that's what we are getting.

That's the market, and I wouldn't expect the numbers to replicate 20 years ago.

yep. the landscape of television has changed over the last two decades. I'm not sure, actually, if GoT reached ENT numbers. I honestly doubt it.

Discovery is only dark because they don’t light the sets properly. The tone of the series is somewhat fine there it’s just that the stories are just very badly told.

Hey the joined during better times and got a nice rebate back in the 80s

Stick to the topic and quit with the snark or else block me. I've no interest in having a pissing contest.

GOT had like 10 million people watch it on HBO at one point. They did dip out towards the end but it got ridiculous numbers on TV alone. I'm sure it's online numbers were decent too.

Is that a useful metric? Comparing the ratings for broadcast TV shows to the ratings for shows that only air on the streaming service with the least content doesn't strike me as a sensible procedure.

CBS would love to get 10 million subscribers for Picard, but if anyone there thought they'd get anything like that, he was an idiot.

Edit: Anyway, the only number that counts is the number that convinces CBS to make more. So far, all the shows have done that and more, enough more to make CBS want to air even more shows.

I dont care what this Star Trek Picard fans say, is not Star Trek and It wont never be. This series doesnt represent Star Trek, Gene Rodenberry's vision. Until Enterprise ended, It evolved but always inside that vision, just in different ways. And im sorry for you guys, but a lot of people thinks like me and there are millions of Star Trek fans that just wont lose time writting about this garbage.

That you don't like it is fine. Not everybody is going to like every STAR TREK show equally. But not every Trekkie is going to feel that way about the new stuff.

Me, I'm a TOS guy at heart, but I've enjoyed all the subsequent shows and movies to varying degrees, and accept that some fans even prefer TNG or VOYAGER to TOS or whatever. Fandom has never spoken with one voice. .
