Ha! That means i came from high school graduation in time to watch the TNG finale when you came into this earth.
I've got nothing new to say. Other than this: Picard is behind a pay wall. I'd never pay for something I didn't like. So hate-watching now makes even less sense than it did in the '80s-'00s.
Spock's death scene is my favourite in all Star Trek. DS9 is amazing, some of my favourites are there like Call to Arms, The Visitor or Favor the Bold.
Here's my question: If the sole purpose of this newbie's post was to say how much he hates Star Trek Picard but wants no discussion about his opinion, then why isn't this thread locked yet? Or better yet, deleted now that newbie got things off his chest and his post serves no other purpose?
That's kinda what threads are for around here. From a pretty well-articulated opening post, this has taken a sharp turn into the un-classy.
How did you feel about the earworm scene, or the man who commits suicide? How do you feel about the body horror that is in almost every Borg episode? How do you feel about Conspiracy, with parasites pouring out of a hollowed out human body?
And yet here you are. The same objections of today are the same that took place with DS9 back in the day. But if it's easier to pretend otherwise, go right ahead.
Yeah, this. I actually perfectly get if some TNG fans like me are a bit uneasy with the darker tone of Picard, but I literally do not understand how DS9 fans could have a problem with it.
For those that completely disagree with the poster, what would a show with "Star Trek" in the title have to do to get you to admit it isn't very good relative to say, TNG or DS9?
I agree with that. It’s not a bad show per say but I don’t get the Trek feel at all from it. It’s just very depressing, plus the characters don’t really act like themselves. Feels more BSG to me. Cut back on the use of holograms and have more LCARs panels. That would help make it look Star Trek. Not Mass Effect.
Then, why make a post in the first place? BINGO! (I do have "bingo", right?) Your rhetoric seems designed to be offputting. Is this intentional? I don't know about other diehard Niners, but I certainly don't.
Yeah, seriously don’t know what selective episodes you watched but every single issue you raised has been a part of trek throughout the decades. Now you might not like the show or find that the thrust of the story telling, after all that’s subjective, but to say this isn’t Trek is utterly foolish.
