Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Because it’s set after Prodigy. Unless they do a time travel story
just like LDS is set (even further) after SNW

Yeah. Though I'm sure I read a comment from Picardo shortly after Pic season 1 aired (or was in full swing) where he said he'd been approached for Season 3. There wasn't as much context then, because I don't think they'd confirmed 2 and 3 at that point, let alone that they were filming them back to back.

I got the impression that it was a minor rumbling, and we didn't hear anything else from him after that. I'm assuming that the writers had a role for him in the season, it's just whether or not he accepted.
I could imagine Voyager from the museum needing an ECH :D

Now that Discovery has been canceled, hopefully they use the freed up funds to continue the post Picard s3 era. Clearly Shaw is a fan favorite. Get rid of Raffi and see if Dorn and Ryan want to star in a show with Shaw. Do some classic exploration TNG style show for post Picard s3 era. Matalas can then go wild with fan service free of the spectre of Discovery's crippling budget.

Imagine that we had nothing after Star Trek 2009, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond and that first thing we saw afther those Kelvinverse movies was Star Trek Picard: Season 3, but in our mind it was season 1 and it was released in 2018. That would be perfection.

What does Discovery's budget have to do with anything? Picard and Discovery cost about $8 million per episode.

Any 25th century show would have its own crippling budget and subject to the same pressures.

It’s not very likely, particularly with the industry wide cuts at streamers, that they will take the combined budgets from Disco and Picard to make a 25th century show, if that’s what’s being implied here. That’s an unrealistic expectation. Maybe, MAYBE, there will be one additional series but I would imagine it might have slightly less of a budget than either Disco or Picard.

Star Trek's return to television after thirteen years to show a bunch of senior citizens playing with LCARS screens might have been a hit among RMB and his ilk, but would have done nothing to raise Trek's status among the general audience.

For who?

Well it would be better then this failed project STD that they are now shutting down. And they as we can see returning to classic Star Trek. So it means that you're wrong.

If you're going to play that game, then here's mine: No ENT, no Kelvin Films.

Star Trek ends in 2001/2002 with VOY/NEM, and then picks up again in 2017 with DSC. Disco runs seven seasons (still 2017-2024, but without the gaps), PIC runs five (every year from 2019 to 2023), and we'd get a Titan spin-off in 2024.

That would be perfection. If it were possible to pick and choose realities. But it's not.

Well, not quite "perfection". I don't really like Nemesis, but it's necessary backstory for PIC Season 1...

You know that STD is Kurtzman's favourite daughter. He wanted at least 7 seasons. It colapsed. Deserved. Five season is too much but that's it.
That's some nice manure being shoveled there. Perfect for my garden.

A failing show doesn't get five seasons, especially not an expensive niche genre show. You might not like Discovery, but it didn't fail. It gave us current Trek outputs. It lasted 5 seasons.
You've just made all that up.
He's a lawyer spinning his case.
Hatred usually is.
