Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Isn't the Borg using a Borgified version of La Sirena?

That was the Confederation one.

Seven still owns the regular one.

Fan: But...

I haven't seen this posted yet; according to The 7th Rule podcast, season 3 is set to premiere July 14.

Really? That’s bonkers! ‪‪I was thinking a fall/winter S03 premiere was plausible, but didn’t think it could be coming that soon.

I wonder if they’re letting that slip earlier than they’re supposed to? That’s a bit suprising, since LD is supposed to come this summer, and they’ve moslty avoided overlap.

If that's true, it kind of feels like they're just ready to move on from PIC. It kinda makes sense since they allowed this season to be overshadowed by both Halo and SNW.

Hrmph, I now think Ryan was just kidding. If you want to check, it's around the 1.08.00 mark. Sorry. :-(

Oh I found at least one change on the Season 3 version of the bridge set, they added what looks like a swivelling console next to the right command chair. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one next to the left chair as well.

So either they reused the bridge for a new ship of a different class with no modifications, it's a ship of the same class, or the Stargazer is being renamed.

I'm saying either it's a new Enterprise or also possibly renaming the Stargazer to the USS Picard or something. Either way, I think the commissioning ceremony is what initially brings the old TNG gang together. One of the first images Terry Matalas posted was of a starfleet reception with Starfleet logo plates and such, and he hinted we get into space very quickly in S3.

^ That kinda fits in with the cards he’s writing in the teaser. The one he’s working on has the words “meet(s) up with” in them. As I said previously, they look like little notes. And he has a serious look on his face while he’s writing them in the middle of the night. The Illuminerdi article concerning his rumored son spoke of a “conspiracy” (yeah I know, I’d love for the aliens from said episode to make a return, too) surrounding the galaxy. Maybe old-fashioned hand-written notes during a dinner are the only way for him to communicate with one or more of his old friends (he does sign the card with his first name and there’s no room for his last name AND he puts a dot after he has written his first name, as if to end a sentence, so, long story short, this stuff is not something super formal) because comm channels have been compromised? Who knows. ;)

This year?!

As it turns out, The 7th Rule host was joking.

Picard S03 almost certainly won’t be out in July of this year, they only recently wrapped shooting and still need to do post production. It *is* possible it’ll be out later this year, but July seems too early to me.

Yeah, July is way too early. I am confused as to why they aren't aiming for the end of the year tho (?), given the fact that TNG has its 35th anniversary in September.
Who says they're not? They may not have announced it yet.

But either way, I imagine we'll get out first real teaser/trailer in September on Star Trek Day.

The first full Season 2 trailer was released in June last year while Season 2 was still shooting. Season 3 finished shooting in March, so there's no reason they couldn't have a trailer for it now.

Other than not wanting to step on the toes of SNW.

Yeah that's why I put a question mark into my post, I know it's still possible that they'll announce it for October/November. It's just that I wouldn't put it past them to not do that. I mean their track record when it comes to "make Trek-related marketing decisions that make sense" isn't exactly exemplary. ;)

Is September too early? Especially if it's a split-season? November/Dec feels better (i.e. popping the first few out just before the holiday season)

I think it takes about six months to finish post-production. All I know is that it would make sense to throw season 3 on the market later this year so that they can ride the TNG 35th anniversary media/marketing attention train. Split season I don't know, the first two seasons weren't split either, it doesn't seem to be a thing they're doing with this show.
