I I dont care if their relationship was good or bad, that is not the point, not do I care if seven is now bi, straight or whatever, it is how seven was last seen with chakotay, no matter how dull you think he is, you would have thought there would have been some sort of reference.
You are not wrong.
Clearly the writers just want to move her as quick as possible to where, and what, they want the character to be, and what
they want to write about, regardless of what came before.
So it's probably for the best they said nothing. You are going to have to imagine for yourself what became of Chakotay, and if you envision some grand denouement for the character, it's probably for the best you should, because if there is some forthcoming exposition dump from these writers of what became of him, I doubt it will be there to satisfy any fans of the character.
It'll just be there to emphasis how insignificant Chakotay was, so they can justify their choice.
Personally I'm going to imagine he went back in time and got eaten by a couple of LA swingers? Seven likley joined them, then moved on.
(from the Chakotay and Seven thread^, didn't know there was one? neither did most)
Then you had picard becoming an android, which to me seems like something the character picard would have been against judging by what we saw of him in his 7 years of tng and the movies.
Again you are not wrong, that there should be some anxiety or pathos about becoming a Synthetic being. Especially since the "choice" wasn't his.
Yet regarding Picard and the Borg, it wasn't so much about altering his body, but more about retaining his individual thoughts (memories), consciousness, experiences, and free will. And that seems to have been satisfied in his discussion with Data.
So I would say that they pulled that off.
As far as a satisfying story arc for the character (Death! no surprise, ...synthetic! With a built in expiration)), it was pretty laughable and meaningless though.
That they already publicly announced they would not explore or address it further, speaks to that.
