Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I don't abbreviate Picard. After the STD Wars of '17-'18, I removed myself from the abbreviation business.

If the series has one subtitle, like Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, and Picard, it doesn't get abbreviated. Abbreviation only comes into play if there are multiple words, like TOS, TAS, TNG, and the upcoming LD.

DS9, and a hypothetical S31 are special cases, treating the numbers as letters in and of themselves. I also don't abbreviate Short Treks, because ST is too vague and confusing.

I think D*x here has me blocked, they’ve stopped responding to me.

People that hate show are in the minority, at least in this subforum. Probably because they moved on and are not wasting their time on something they hate. Which is the healthy thing to do IMO.

No, I haven't. I may have overlooked your comment, but you're not blocked. I don't block people, even if I may not agree with them at all.

But you're probably right about others who didn't enthusiastically embrace this show; they're not here. Obviously. And you're definitely right that one should not waste time on this... this thing. I know I won't anymore. Kurtzman managed to fool us once more into believing this would be about Star Trek and Picard, but it's neither. I gave this show a chance but after the 5th episode I see no point in watching it any further. Picard is a failure in terms of Star Trek. The (over)acting, the plot, the dialogues, the cinematography, the music/soundtrack, costumes, the rip-off elements of other sci-fi and non-sci-fi shows, the overall look and feel... it simply... sucks. It's like a bad piece of (science)fiction. Some fan productions would make better Star Trek. Thankfully there are currently other sci-fi shows that are a spiritual successor of Trek 1966-02, though they're not actually an official Trek production. STP may be another let down, but the optimistic vision of the future and the human adventure lives on in such shows.

Putting my mod hat on and coming back to this...
That was probably a typo on my part, in which double c became double s.
The exact same typo, in two different parts of the post. Not buying it.

And taking the mod hat off again...really, anybody who'd come up with "CBS All Asses" has no business getting on his high horse regarding use of profanity. That's junior high stuff.

All you have to do is look at the Episode Discussion Threads. Particularly for Episodes 4 and 5. I was arguing with @Crewman6 over PIC in Episode 5 and, while I largely stayed out of it, there was the stuff going on with Tarek71 in Episode 4 over "Moral Mary Sue".

I lost count of how many times I argued with @BillJ and others about Discovery. Probably thousands of times. No exaggeration.

If this were the kind of board you're trying to paint this as, none of that would've ever happened.

He can’t do that, or it would prove his statements about this forum are wrong, and We can’t have that now, can we?

If people accept that crap, i.e. profanities like f***ing and sh*t, in Trek what's next? Picard saying "motherf***er"?
You're simply wrong here but are trying to make some excuse for this shitty and unnecessary use of profanities in a show called Star Trek. There are some examples, but, like I said, those were always within parameters of the acceptable family-friendly show, e.g. damn, hell, or even that word sh*t in French and as an expletive, and that's only in a few episodes among 700+ (!). Here we have profanities in every or almost every episode, and there are only like 10 episodes.

He used "merde" (sh*t in French), if I'm not mistaken. When was word f**** used by Picard?
Assimilate this motherfucker!

Works for me.
