Just got this email.

You uh. Tried.

lmao  Ah well I’d be like “at least there’s a cute JLP pic”

This weeks ready room had some more closeups of the weapon plaques in General Picard's trophy room

It's hard to make out, but I think this says the phaser belonged to Elim Garak, and he was part of Cardassian Intelligence.

This plaque also implies he Klingons and Romulans were allies in the Confederation Timeline.

Elnor is dead. He's immaterial. There's nothing TO assimilate.

I might be totally wrong but haven’t we seen nanoprobes restore dead tissue before? Perhaps the concept of a more merciful collective could lead Jurborgti to restore Elnor. As opposed to being assimilated. Or left dead. It’s only been a few days.

ETA: Yes, Seven revived Neelix 18 hours after his death in the episode “Mortal Coil.”

Neelix had flesh that COULD be revived.

Elnor is past that (unless they want to go for his corpse).

Or they can do what Disco did with Gray -- grab a Soong Golem body.

In their stories, both characters are dead. Dead flesh is dead flesh. The writers have an avenue to revive a character. Whether they choose to utilize that is yet to be seen. But as @Tuskin38 suggests, he’ll more than likely be alive by the end of the season. They’ve kept his character in our consciousness for a reason.

This is the point I make when people say wait to see how it plays out or blame the serialized format. There are so many good serialized shows out there, and they don't make me wait until the end of the season to make sense or to come together. Most of the time, each week's episodes can also stand on their own even though they are heavily serialized. I just finished a rewatch binge of Better Call Saul season 5. It was 10 episodes, had multiple plotlines, great character development, didn't have to have a 30 minute episode because they couldn't come up with enough plot, and didn't have any of the issues something like Picard has.

Sorry but this in no way helps make your point. Better Call Saul is not considered good tv. Period. Its considered one of the best shows to have been made. It would be like comparing the quality of St. Elsewhere and Hills Street Blues as an example of good quality programming to showcase how far behind them TNG was. There has always been superior programming to Trek on, regardless of era.

The vast majority of serialized shows don't maintain an even level of quality, its not even remotely close. It literally is the same as trying to judge episodic television and complaining about having one or two episodes a season that are below average. Name one season of episodic Trek that doesn't feature not just an average episode but an episode you would rank as below average television?

Hell look at the short serialized arcs of DS9. The retaking of DS9 at the start of season 6, and the taking the war to Cardassia at the end of season 7. Each features at least one episode that is viewed by Trek fans (at least those who have posted opinions publicly at the time on message boards or rating sites like SOS) that were far inferior to the rest of the episodes. Look at ENT season long arc in season 3, there are several points that many a fan complained about. From outright really bad episodes, to episodes with a very tenuous attachment to the overriding arc.

I’ve not watched Better Call Saul. Like with Breaking Bad, I’m waiting for it to complete its run so I can watch it all the way through. But I’ve heard it’s amazing.

I wonder if the plot of this season negates/decanonizes Star Trek V, especially after Mercy....

Please don't kill Q!

Then again, maybe this is why the Federation hasn't had contact with the Q Continuum in over 600 years... :(

At the risk of sounding extremely calloused and unfeeling why not? Q is a character who is difficult to write for and his insertion often times feels very forced.
