Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

That was a false Maddox, it's okay.

I don't doubt that Jurati herself isn't villainous, but her body remains under the control of the Borg Queen. There's a trailer scene involving the Borg Queen holding a knife of some kind that has yet to air, so I surmise there's going to be a mental showdown between the two characters that plays out "physically" on screen. There aren't any signs that the Borg Queen we're familiar with is interested in burying the hatchet.

On closer examination, I think the person holding the knife is Elnor, not BQ. The pants he's wearing match the outfit in the preview where he's on the deck of La Sirena and Seven/Jurati don't seem to realize he's there. The knife also looks similar to his sword.

It's definitely the new Borg Queen outfit.

Hmm, maybe. If it is the BQ and she has a knife in her hand, I wonder if she's going to spar with Elnor, who appears to have a blade of his own... but here are the pics that initially suggested to me they could be the same person:

The gloves on the arm and the sword/knife looked similar, as do the pants (on second look, maybe not as intricate, but still cut-out and kind of industrial looking). The fingerless gloves may be slightly different though, Elnor's thumb appears to be covered up more. Very low resolution shot from this preview:

This is the best picture I can find of the Borg Queen with legs. You can clearly make out her thigh, forearm, and knee in that trailer shot. I just noticed/remembered that the knife is bloodied in that shot too... interesting.

The horror tropes have come full circle. The Borg are cybernetic zombies and their leader is now a slasher villain.

Speculation: In addition to the season-long format, I'm assuming Season 2 is also spending so much time in 2024 because they want to save the full extended display of Starfleet and the Federation in the 25th Century for Season 3, for the full TNG Movie Done Right Effect. What we saw in the premiere of Season 2 (and presumably will see in the season finale at the end of this arc) is just a preview of things to come.

Very likely. Terry Matalas has said that season 3 is starship-based, so yeah. And it will shake up the Trek universe. You can't do that very well - at least not directly - if your story takes place on a planet and/or the past of said planet. Season 2 is "an intimate story", according to Goldsman. Season 3 takes things elsewhere.
