I wouldn't mind a thread as I often miss these tidbits...
Well, he's in the right fandom for this kind of, *clears throat* discussion. The post is deleted now (wish I'd screenshotted it, I imagine the comments would have gone John Eaves 25% in no time), but Doug Drexler commented on Facebook today that he considers Picard a direct continuation of TNG and Discovery a "variant timeline"
If I had a dime every time this came up.I saw that comment of his. I might not agree with much of the DSC Era aesthetic but it is the same timeline and continuity as TOS.
I'm about to go buy a lottery ticket and see if Hell froze over.I mean, if I'm satisfied it's the same timeline then we need to just give it up.![]()

One would guess that he is probably very tired of being attacked for having an opinion.
That's exactly what a paid plant would say...Working in the art department and making him a Trek somebody, I can see the more... special... internet people using it as a rallying cry of some secret canon conspiracy.
Again.
I have it but not sure how to post photos from phone on here as no URL…The post is deleted now (wish I'd screenshotted it, I imagine the comments would have gone John Eaves 25% in no time), but Doug Drexler commented on Facebook today that he considers Picard a direct continuation of TNG and Discovery a "variant timeline"
It's not as offensive an opinion as prejudice, but one that would get many fans fired up. I don't watch Discovery, but.... I've seen the arguments on twitter! lol like you I don't disagreewhile I mostly agree with his opinion (I would include Picard in the alt universe because of the Discoprise and Disco shuttle appearances in S1), it’s not an argument I think is worth having anymore. Both sides are pretty dug in and few if any minds are gonna change.
he was right to delete it. Facebook is a cesspool to begin with and I’m sure the reaction to the post only made things worse.
