Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Startrek.com has an extra page for their preview for Countdown #1

it confirms that Picard's mission is connected to the supernova, mentioning it is at least a year away.

Riker and Deanna are still on the Titan as of 2386, and implies the Enterprise-E is under a new captain. And another shot of the Odyssey Class bridge
BIG NEWS HERE: They call it "the Romulan supernova" implying it's been massively downscaled from something that "threatens to destroy the galaxy" as per ST'09 and the previous tie-ins.

That starship bridge Picard is pictured on, looks an awful lot like the one of the Enterprise-F that's in Star Trek Online.

Yeah, Daniel pointed that out last page when he posted the preview.

The same bridge is used for all Odyssey Class ships in the game, not just the Enterprise, the ship Picard is on in the comic is called Verity.

Eh, they could just mean that it's in Romulan space.

Perhaps, there was a bit of hyperbole going on back then to get peoples attention so as to actually help the Romulans?

Picard’s joke about the Romulan senate implies that maybe he’s having the same problems convincing them about the supernova that Spock did? Though I can’t remember if that happened in ST09 or in the original Countdown comic. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that movie so can’t remember if there was anything that would contradict them knowing about the supernova at least 2 years before it happened.

It does seem like they are managing to fit everything together after the initial confusion about what was happening in what year.

I wouldn't read too much into the bridge. Franchise comic artists tend to use existing assets like that for reference materials. At least they're not tracing Rekkert's bridges, the way some fan material's been used without permission by the Marvel Star Wars comics.

Could this thread be pinned like the one in the DSC subforum?

Well having proof now that Picard’s rescue mission is connected to the supernova, not the Borg (though I still think they’ll tie in somehow because of the days since assimilation sign)

My current theory as to why Picard retires still hasn’t changed. I think for some reason Starfleet calls off the rescue mission, which is why Picard loses faith in them and retires.

Though there are some Romulan refugees on Earth, some that grateful to Picard, so maybe he goes rogue and rescues some on his own, or it was called off during the evacuation, so some were already rescued.

Does it have the Transpordter Pads in the rear of the Bridge too? ;)
It's out of frame in the only shot of the rear, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of it is this accurate.

As far as I can tell, none of this is traced. It seems to be drawn from scratch.

How well do we expect the comics to tie into the series, though? IIRC, the Countdown comics for 2009 were basically ignored, if not outright contradicted, by the movie, not to mention the sequels. For example, despite the Verity being depicted as an STO Odyssey-class, I could see no such set ever appearing on the show, nor any ship even remotely resembling it. I really hope I'm wrong, but I'm feeling very anxious about it
