Wow. Tied for worst of the season. And that is being generous. 3 or 4 out of 10 would be more fair. So Intergalactic Skynet wages genocidal war on biologics and they get the signal after psychic transmissions over millenia finally come from future "synthetics"? Yes, there is a Part II. Maybe the dumbest plot in Trek history since Warp 10 Salamanders will somehow be saved. But as my late, great Pop used to say: "We live in hope, and die in despair." (He was a glass is half empty kind of guy though). And let us vow that the Venus fly trap ships will never be spoken of again. Dreadful.

Picard dying strikes me as highly improbable, unless they transfer him to that android body.

Hmmm.... now that I think about it, the latter strikes me as kind of plausible.

Either that or he is miraculously cured, which I doubt. I don’t think the actor is likely to want a multi year contract. They’ve established that Picard is dying and would rather die in space and he got to say his goodbyes and I love yous.

I'm guessing the butterfly pin penetrated her neural net and caused a cascade or short-out. Her net went down.

I would've liked to have penetrated her neural net, if you know what I'm sayin'.

I mean, the scientific knowledge gained from accessing a functioning positronic matrix would be invaluable.

Since there's a season 2 of the show, Picard can't die for good. Unless they do something monumentally stupid and name the ship after him or something, and pledge to carry on in his memory (which is rich, since they've basically spent half the show telling him he's old and naïve and rolling their eyes at him). So my bet is also on the "putting him in the android body" thing if he does die. But with these writers? They'll find some way to make it even cornier than it sounds.

They could also give him a positronic brain to go along with his mechanical heart and then spend the rest of the series doing bad Wizard of Oz jokes

So if Picard is transferred into the android's body, who will play him in S2 onwards? Robert Picardo? (rumored to be in S2)

This plot sounds like a cheap replica of 'Westworld' to me :shrug:....

Or this :shrug::confused:....

Welp, you win
Not so much. I mean the joke was there but I think it was an intentional reference. Transformation and rebirth is such a big part of the show == the episode even opens with Alison crunched up in an almost fetal position. And Agnes's arc is the biggest here.

But the way this show is plotted, it plays out very much like a butterfly effect in action: "A butterfly flaps its wings." A young woman knocks on an old man's door.

Not psychic transmissions. The synthetics have to ask for help via ordinary subspace radio. The amusing thing is that the only reason the synths know how to contact the higher civilization is that Oh mind-melded with Jurati, so Oh caused the problem she was trying to stop.
