It doesn't make me uncomfortable, per se, but it absolutely does ruin any appeal Rizzo may have had. To me, she's just a mustache-twirling creep. I wish someone would kill her off already. Maybe Oh?

Let's hope Oh (or Narek or Soji) would put Rizzo out of her misery by beheading her (if this continues to be a Trek series inspired by GoT... ;);)

it seems woefully uninspired where it comes s-exposition. I'm really disappointed at the lack of nudity and banging that goes with info dumps that one is expected to get from a GoT inspired series. And I say this with absolute candor.

We did get GoT-inspired insect vibes b/w Rizzo and Narek though. Plus that beheading scene and aftermath, when Elnor spoke in a language that sounds like High Valyrian to me.

And for a moment 'Qallankhai' sounds like 'Khaleesi' to me :hugegrin::beer:

I'm guessing some people are all up in arms about the Romulan ex-Senator getting his head cut off but I thought the show earned it.

I also like the idea there's this warlord pirate wreaking havoc on a whole swath of systems with nothing but a hundred(ish?)-year-old Bird of Prey. And it was badass seeing that ship on the screen.

To me, the show as a whole feels a little bit disjointed but I would expect they have to get down to business pretty soon, right? I mean this was 4 out of 10 episodes and they still haven't really "done" anything.

Yeah, Star Trek had swordfighting 55 years ago, along with a hot but creepy woman putting the moves on a reluctant guy as part of a really disturbing fantasy inspired sex game. But sure, GoT invented all this stuff last week:guffaw:Go watch The Cage and get back to me.

With how much the Romulans hate Picard, I'm thinking Spock was never Nero's target after all. He only chased Spock to get his red matter and then take it and use it on Earth and Picard. He just didn't expect to be pulled into a black hole and thus had to make do with alternate universe targets.

Heck, that was the entire point of "Q Who."

Which, come to think of it, was also the episode that introduced the Borg . . . .

And what Q Who also shows us is Picard's unwillingness to take responsibility for not listening to Q's warnings, for not listening to Guinan's warnings. He puts his failure at not looking a the big picture all on Q, so its not surprising he wouldn't see the larger picture when faced up to a Starfleet that tells him, "No."

This show is Picard's Wrath of Khan and Kobayashi Maru.

AFAIK, whatever has happened to the Federation in DSC's future will have nothing to do with anything in PIC.

Makes sense, really. The Federation can't fall now, because we know it has to last until Daniels' time which is still centuries away.
Probably. Just saying it's hard to rule out that intent entirely, even if it's just setting up the first dominoes. (Braxton's time would be another issue, but hard to rule out timeline changes.)

Though, to be clear, I hope that's not the case. Even if the Federation falls eventually, I'd rather not have a show focus on that time as it happens.

Yes. She is very one-dimensional.

Eh, I am fine with it, not every villain has to be sympathetic character you are supposed to relate to, see Kivas Fajo. Joffery and Ramsay Bolton were compelling in how vile they were and how much the audience were invested in their downfall. Sometimes you need a villain who is unsympathetic, if Narek switches sides, you need someone to come in and ensure that the Zhat Vash's plan succeeds. Plus when she dies, it will be pretty cool. Sometimes you just need a villain the audience loves to hate.

Which in and of itself was a break in Picard's character because he had the opportunity to strike the ultimate, complete revenge on the Borg by sending Hugh back in with the virus/etc to destroy the entire collective..but did not because it was wrong..

To then wanting to wipe out the Borg at any cost in FC? Inconsistent...but it made for *great* drama

I think its naive to think that Picard's emotional wounds instantly healed after meeting Hugh and that dealing with the Borg Collective again would not reopen those old wounds, emotional trauma does not go away that easily.

Also Burnham doesn't know Picard at all, so such a "dramatic" revelation would fall flat to the Discovery crew.

Historian: And thus, the once great Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, previously savior of humanity, ultimately did destroy the Federation.

Discovery crew: Who?

I don’t even think that Spock stuff even happened now. That was always a different universe than this.

Q-Who was that, but it was also pointing out Picards arrogance in thinking they were ready to handle anything..so Q shows them a threat that they were absolutely incapable of handling
