Which makes no fucking sense. How could the invasion and occupation of a sovereign world be considered an "internal" affair of Cardassian or within Cardassia's "borders?" It was a really, really dumb fucking line and a grotesque misinterpretation of the PD.

Probably based on recognized borders. Bajor was inside the recognized border of the Cardassian Empire, it didn't really matter whether it was a sovereign world or not. Just where the line was drawn.

Unfortunately, lots of people get screwed when major powers sit down and negotiate borders.

I just noticed that this episode contradicts “The Defector”. In “The Defector”, Romulan Admiral Jarok tells Data that he knows a bunch of Romulan cyberneticists who would love to examine Data, but in this episode it’s claimed that the Romulan never pursed or had any cybernetics experts.

Jarok was probably trying to get a response from Data aka he lied. Romulans do lie.

I don't know why, but I feel like I enjoyed the Dahj character more than the Soji character so far.

Makes no sense, given that we've hardly seen either of them as distinctive personalities....but it's just a weird vibe.

They definitely give off two different vibes. Soji is probably in the tougher environment to survive, so it is reflected in her character.

Well the actress is yes, but I'm saying she's been physically altered. She was originally a Romulan male (his brother that he mentioned losing recently).

He could have been one of the guys in black who got killed in ep 1

We will have to see just how identical they are, we know they are physically but we have yet to see emotionally.

Plus Dahj was activated which seemed to have a major effect on her, being told she isnt a real girl didnt help either.

Will be interesting to see if all the advanced Android twins are female or a mix of male and female.

The Dominion War changed the whole Alpha Quadrant, and not for the better. I hope that tulaberry wine idea was worth the trouble, Quark.

Wonder if they will hear anything of the dominion in this show.

Somebody pointed it out earlier in the thread. Maybe the particular cyberneticists who Jarok knew were actually some kind of dissidents who were forbidden by the Romulan government from pursuing such a line of research even though they badly wanted to.

Pff, I'm sure there are those that don't consider anything after season 2 of TOS as "real" Star Trek

That's not the only thing contradicted. The fact there's a basically intact Borg Cube with Borg still living in some sense contradicts the fact that when a Borg Cube malfunctions - the Borg blow it up (as seen in TNG "Best of Both Worlds").

Now it could be Hugh's Cube from TNG - S5 "I Borg"/ S6 - "Descent" and if so, why did Hugh choose to work with Romulans over Picard and the Feds - but I gotta wonder WHY the Borg Collective would allow any other non-assimilated species to keep a Cube <--- IE why haven't the Borg sent one or more Cubes to destroy it in the past 14-16 years?

I suppose Admiral Janeway's efforts to get Voyager home earlier paid off with the Borg being effectively defanged and immobilized over the past 21 years. The Collective could have been seriously damaged.

Andor leaving is different since they were a founding member, but the Federation didn’t collapse from them leaving.
They came back a few months later though.

andor separated from the federation in the canon ?? I thought that only happened in noncanon novels.

The Dominion War pretty much defined the 24th Century across three quadrants.

That may be why they will somewhat ignore it in Picard, it is perhaps too big an event to truly recognise fully in a 10 episode season.

It will be hard enough finding the time to do the loss of Romulus/Remus justice, never mind adding the fallout from the war.
