The spawnmother gets healed by waves of bugs a few times during the fight. When you see them race toward her do your best to AoE kill them asap.
Think like the snowmen healing the abominable snowman in the winter wonderland event. Same mechanic.
A good DPS team can kill her before the first healing bug spawn.
You don't need so much healing if you prepare with traits and gear against toxic and physical attacks.
There are a couple of rep and lobi armors that are really good against that, but also a few good EV suits that work as a substitute. Look for anything that gives tox resists.
 
If all else failes, go to Kobali prime and do the final 2 area dailies near the Vaadwaur ship. That will get you marks and ancient power cells, too.
I run these daily twice, getting me 2 ancient power cells, and 2 iconian data probes. Although the mark payout on these is very low if your not getting the daily bonus. For 2 runs it only take 10 - 15 minutes.
 
Season 10.5 is now live! Well, not really. There's the usual rubber-banding and login issues that happen with major updates, so they had to go into Emergency Maintenance within an hour of finishing the update.

I just think that they should be required to update their article with the title: "Season 10.5 is Dead." :rommie:
 
I was online with no issues (for once) then all of a sudden a system message flashed up telling everyone to log off as they were bring holodeck down in 1 minute.
 
Looks like the krenim found a flux capacitor from a 'lost' civilization :)

Damn....

It would appear I've been out of the game for a month or three again, sometimes I just stop playing for a bit. Any huge changes I need to be aware of? I know of the new sectorspace layout, I think I stopped two days after that was introduced.

I'm patching about 1500mb worth of patches right now.

Most of yesterday's patch (season 10.5) went into:

1) New mission (you may have missed a few more)
2) New fleet holding and fleet Armada system (basically: Super-Fleets)
3) Revamp of Advanced queues
4) New Year of Hell lockbox and delta quadrant doff packs

So, if you're not in a fleet and purely free-to-play, it's mostly just 1 and 3 that might interest you. I quite enjoyed the new missions they've been putting out lately (nice to see Aron Eisenberg return as Nog), but that may be just me. :)

Thanks man. I checked for a bit, saw the new mission, but I'm still onyly level 57, and it's gonna take a couple of decades before I reach 60, so we'll see. :D
 
And so ends the summer event, I've always thought that it should go through August. Summer isn't over yet!

Everyone level 10 and above if I'm not mistaken - but personally, given that it builds directly on the previous one, I'd advise running them in order to avoid spoilers.
 
Yeah, it's not a popular queue, Usually I have to wait a good 10-20 to get the notification to start. The last two teams I had were all Tactical Captains so our healing was zip.

To add to what was said above, make sure you get some good psionic and toxic resists. The 8472 rep armor is basically tailor-made for this mission, with toxic, psionic, and physical resistance. Make sure you have hyposprays. The borg T5 rep trait is a good power to have as well for emergency healing. But, you shouldn't need to have too much healing to do if:
1) Stay out of the ravagers' AoE attack.
2) Kill the flying bugs ASAP.
3) Don't completely ignore the delvers.
The physical attacks of the ground bugs aren't a big deal if you don't just let them hit you over and over, but the flyers will kill you dead right quick if you aren't careful.

As for weapons, you will need a ranged weapon to take out the fliers. Just get a strong one. Full-autos work well for me. For the ground guys, especially the delver mobs, AoE is best; I like the iconian rep pulsewave. Also good is the trait you can get that increases close-range damage.

Once they get it fixed, I would do elite instead of advanced if possible. Elite pugs are generally more successful, since people are scared to do elites, so only the confident really do them. However, right now the last part of the mission is bad (probably Working As Intended): you have to keep the NPC alive or it's an instant-fail now. But he just doesn't want to just do his job and not grab agro from half the guys on the wall. (And of course there's the problem of npc's randomly dying from nothing, like in the undine infiltration elite mission.) You shouldn't be able to fail advanced now, so if you really want you can do that, though I would just stay away from that in general. If you do elite, I would at least upgrade your gun to mk14, if not your armor and shield too.
 
I'm making this post because I am finding myself playing the same old Tholian Encounters, CCA, STFs, GGA queues again and again. I no longer finding STO fun. So I'ld like to ask you guys, what do you guys do in STO that's fun?
 
I'm in the same boat as you, intrinsical. I log in, do my DOFF as well as my R&D assignments, and then I logout. It's all kind of meh for me right now.
 
Are the servers laggy or something? I could hardly control my ship and character. Response was slow as feck. Not my wifi, I checked. 14ms ping and over 50mbps speed.
 
I play foundry missions. Some are "meh", but many are quite good, and some even better than Cryptic's missions :D. And if they can be combined with "Officers' reports" (or whatever it's called), they can bring some XP points and dil.
