I wonder since Delta Rising whether I should move up ftom a science Vesta? Any thoughts or suggestions. I never thought to try to advance very far, initially, using my Constitution class vessel.

Are you sure that was a Romulan and not a Vulcan? Players have been known to sneak into other factions bases.
Defiantly a romulan, I selected the character and the details box had the romulan logo (think it was engineer).
It must be reported to Kererek. He needs to tighten security!

^I had the same issue. They're doing network fixes in addition to the usual downtime. So, probably the connection is not available.

Depends on what you mean by better.
Better in combat given the same crew and skills. I do not know the default hardware slotted items on those ships.
