The STO account servers seem to have been down a lot lately. Lots of timeouts. Anyone else having problems logging in?

The servers have been getting progressively worse over the last year. Timeouts and DCs and the rubberbanding just gets worse and worse. There are complaints about it on Reddit every day. I had such a bad time the other day doing Sompek that I rage quit and uninstalled the game.

So no. It's not just you.

Glad it’s not just me then. Finally bit the bullet and started playing a couple months ago myself. Just finished the “Delta Quadrant” season today - way too long a season IMO - but after finishing the final scene of the final mission, no achievement pop. Nothing. Logged out and got back in and nothing. After enduring a whole reunion season of Voyager storylines and aliens (which I really didn’t like all that much), I was somewhat irked that it glitched at the very end. Sent a ticket to their support. Hopefully I’ll hear something from them next week. It should be relatively easy to prove that something broke.

Interesting. The Elachi Qulash Frigate looks like a redesigned Breen ship. Very cool looking. And the Abramsverse Klingon ship always looks really good.

I may have to pull my Vengeance of mothballs but it won't be as I just picked up the Gamma Vanguard pack. Soooo many goodies!

The Kelvin was another Colab ship between Cryptic and Tobias Richter
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/w8w2q5
This ship, the U.S.S. Kelvin as seen in Star Trek (2009), was modeled by famed Trek artist Tobias Richter. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with Tobias on several STO ships over the course of the past year. Given the unique nature of our ship materials, I will create a material for Tobias, he will model and unwrap the ship, and send it back to me. I will then finalize the model and the material and intake the model into Star Trek Online.

Wow, season 9. I used to love this game from Beta testing until about season 2 or 3. I had a break for a year or so after maxing out my characters (level 60 was the cap at the time I think?), and when I came back, my main account name had changed from Timofnine to TimofSean or something like that (I forget the name!), and when I emailed to enquire about how this happened they just replied and said that I'd have to put up with it and couldn't be changed. I'm sure that someone who works/ed for STO must have thought it was a dormant/abandoned account and started playing my account which at the time was pretty maxed out - can't prove it though. Anyway. I never came back to the game as a result and never had the enthusiasm to do all the hard graft grinding again on a new account. It all just seems a bit too big of a game for me to get back in to now after all these years anyway.

Hi Timo, sorry that happened, that completely sucks! I understand not wanting to start over, it can be daunting. In case you still have an itch to play you can now start a new Jem'Hadar character that starts off at level 60. A few of the reps are already at level 5 for a nice boost and Romulan ships are now accessible to other factions. I may be able to arrange to get you a few choice items and maybe a ship or two to help you out. It's pretty easy to earn marks dilithium these days. I could even assist in mission and TFO runs. You can rack up lots of EC that way as I wouldn't need them, I'm glad to help out. Anyways, if you are interested just pm me. :)

I doubt it was a dev, someone probably figured out your password or something.
No, it must have been a dev - certain parts of my profile that could not be changed had been changed (the cryptic account username I think it was?). When I logged back on after a few years I was told that the things which had been changed couldn't be changed as it wasn't possible as it was something that was set at account creation.

Thank you TJ I might take you up on that at some point - one of the problems is just how daunting the whole game seems to be now as it has grown so much! :biggrin:

If they did that, it's because they felt the name was too close to a trademarked or copywritten name - that's usually the case when an account name is changed by a Dev/GM. They don't usually do it lightly and they don't 'play your account' at all, they simply make the change and move on. This isn't anything unique to STO, it happens across all MMOs. If someone files a complaint that after investigation teh Devs/GMs agree, or a Dev/GM sees a name that violates the games naming policy, the name is changed.

Awesome! Just in time for me to start playing my new Klingon character. I wonder if the Galaxy-style updates are going to extend to the Yamato-class variant.

Timofnine? :lol::lol:

It was changed to someone else's name 'ofnine'. I forget the name though if I were to log in to my account it would still show the changed name.

hey, I agree that it shouldn't trigger such a response, but usually all it takes if one overzealous GM/Dev. I've seen friends get their character/account name changed and have been left scratching my head as to why (IE Yeah, we couldn't see anything offensive or infringing, but the names got changed.)
