Found the Playmates' "First Contact" Enterprise -- overall shape okay, but most of the details are completely wrong, again because they were working from an earlier drawing of the ship before the model work was complete:

Nope, sorry. My definition of "close" just isn't particularly anal retentive. The TMP ship and the TNG ship are pretty similar to the original, too.
Not only the TNG uniforms though. I'm pretty sure the Kirk in movie uniform is called 'Admiral Kirk' even though he's a Captain in the film and has the Captain rank insignia on his uniform. (I have the fig, in the package, somewhere)

Anyone think it's pathetic the conservative places tried to NOT sell the Duras sisters, simply cause of cleavege?

Also, I don't think that "conservative" is the right word to use. Supposing that there were places that this sort of overprotective, governmental-nanny-state attitudes were actually present... that's NOT a "conservative" attitude.
I'd suspect that if there was a lower sales figure for those two figures, it would more likely be due to the stores choosing to carry more of the figures which they assumed people would at least RECOGNIZE.
And (based on the first "Galaxy Quest") in doing so would probably be making a better "Star Trek" film than most of the first ten - which is rather the point of making a new Trek movie, right?

Lol, and the film could be about the production of a new Galaxy Quest film, with new younger actors playing the roles, except that Alan Rickman was asked back to reprise his role and Tim Allen wasn't.
Far be it for me to drop-kick this thread into TNZ, but, IIRC, Tipper Gore certainly had her panties in a bunch regarding musically "offensive materials" back in the 90's and I'm preeeeeety sure she's not a conservative. Censorship ain't just for the right anymore there, my friend.
It's whatever gets votes and for whom.
There's a difference between the private and public sectors, between the sale of Star Trek toys and high government officials perjuring themselves, between cleavage on toys and attempts to protect humans who can't protect themselves*. Besides, flag burning hasn't been a serious issue for years, and evolution has been a non-starter at the national level and most of the states.
*If you're referring to Terry Schiavo, she wasn't brain dead. "Look up the right words, the ones for today. Use them correctly, and mean what [you] say."
Allen/Taggart's reaction would be great and over the top. Fred Kwan, of course, wouldn't care - he'd think it was all cool.

Historically, the chances are pretty good, especially where Playmates is concerned. Combine that with Abrams' notorious penchant for cloak & dagger and it wouldn't surprise me if what's being shown at Toy Fair is simply for the press. It's possible buyers are seeing something entirely different.
Worst case scenario we get figures from deleted scenes.
