"Star Trek" movie toy report from Toy Fair Germany...

If the Ring is the time-travel device, it wouldn't be the first time in sci-fi: Doctor Who used a similar device during it's twelfth season when the TARDIS was unavailable. (Although it was more of a bracelet than a finger ring).

I'm all for equal opportunity when it comes to revealing clothes! Starfleet should make shirt wearing optional for the men.

As a female science fiction fan, that's my main complaint about some shows. They NEVER forget to give men their eye candy but sometimes forget that we female fans (or gay male fans!) enjoy having our own eye candy too.

Agree 100%.

Not surprising, however, given that most of the writers on these shows are men.

They care about their own eye candy...but apparently we are not nearly as important.

The only show that has done a reasonable job with this has been Battlestar Galactica.

All the other ones are very sexist in how they do this stuff, and offer nowhere NEAR equal time...or skin. :p

We must stop Führer Abrams embargo of Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nürnberg fotografieren!

Sorry, my Kraut gene came through there. And yes, I didn't use a translator because I am that bad at Deutsch.

Oh yes, that was very bad. Just say "Ich will diesen Teppich nicht kaufen". That does always fit...

Made me think of Conan obrien and his exaggerated German

Fifty figures??!! That sounds like Playmates Toys. Probably more like ten head sculpts three body sculpts and thirty seven different colors.

50 figures isn't a lot when you consider this is a major picture and highly anticipated, and they're are splitting the toys across three scales.

I would like to see some photos.
My friend said that it isn't allowed to take photos in Toy Fair. Is it true?

Everything I've read says that Playmates isn't allowing photos, which isn't a surprise since the movie's a year away.

Decades may pass and times may change but women will always be the fairer sex. I'm glad they decided to keep the miniskirts without going PC on us.

That uniform alone will probably help sell the film :|

Well, there's also the fact that most men look a lot better with more clothes on them... women (at least women who are physically fit) are, generally speaking, just more aesthetically pleasing. The majority of people I've spoken to about this... heterosexual or homosexual (or "shades of grey")... of either gender all seem to agree on that.

We men do tend to look sorta goofy unclothed... ;)

That depends on the man... Jeffrey Hunter looked

These straight females you know that would rather look at women naked are bizarre! As a straight female there are plenty of men I'd LOVE to see with much more less clothes than the norm. I can't think of any women I desire to see naked or with less clothes. Of course, I suppose it's possible that I'm the strange one. I am a Star Trek fan after all! Still, I find it a bit hard to believe personally.

Please...please...PLEASE someone smuggle a cell phone pic of the new Enterprise toy!

There has to be a very strict protocol regarding electronics and cameras around the Trek XI stuff, or the Fair in general. It's impossible for not one single picture to have appeared on the net by chance.

JJ has his hands in many sinister soups.

Nope, I'm right there with you. I never understood the ardent hatred directed at Seven of Nine, or T'Pol. Hot babes are a rich Star Trek (one GR's own) and Space Opera tradition. There's no reason there can't or shouldn't be a bit of "T&A".

Well apeart from the fact that it's 2008 and we should have put sexist crap like that behind us.

Just cause someone shows off their body, does not mean sexist. Girls wear hatler tops and tight-ass, low cut jeans and strapy heels cause they WANT to, nothing wrong with skin showing.

A babe can have equality, and still not be/look a "walking freezer unit".

Depends on what shape they are in. If he's overweight like Jim Belushi or skrawny like Leonard Decaprio, than yes.

If the fellow is in good shape, he can look better with less clothes.

If we're going to get sneaked and leaked pix, I'd imagine they'll come either from New York, which is in a week, wherein there may be too many people passing through to police all at once, or we'll see test shots leaked when the molds go to China, which could be in six months.

Damn! You'd think he was a Freemason or something...
