80 million dollars.

$80,000,000.00

I don’t know this for a fact, but I’m willing to bet that $80 million would’ve paid for another season of Lower Decks. And I’m also pretty sure, even if I don’t know it for a fact, that 10 episodes of LDS would get a lot more eyeballs than two hours of S31.

It was good, but somewhat underwhelming. A couple good speeches at the end helped, and I'll miss Captain Freeman big-time, though the finale definitely felt rushed. I never cared for Ransom, either - but everyone has that one character they can't stand. Some even hate Wesley from TNG.

Great visuals on top of everything, but multiverses aren't my thing and that's at the epicenter of all this - a concept how many other franchises are also using.

But I do wonder what a 6th season might have been. The great episodes of season 5 are still on par with the other greats that the show cultivated, and the other new characters added to the show in season 4 onward certainly helped. And yet 5 felt the most uneven of the bunch. Or at least the most rushed at times. impossible to say, really. And now, I'm off to get a tall refreshing glass of... Metamucil.

This is the end of the line folks. Another Trek series ends prematurely, and it was animated, so it could have gone on much longer, which makes its cancellation even more disappointing. Enjoy the series finale and whatever surprises it may bring. And keep in mind that Trek will live on, and if we're lucky, maybe we haven't seen the last of this crew.

I could have seen it go for another two seasons easily. And did anyone else make the connections to that other Roddenberry show that had those filaments that was seen on the screen while they traveled in slipstream....
