All of the bleeping!!!

Loved this one from beginning to end.
The "Roga Danar" deep dive was a hilarious.
Even as a life long trek fan I said "who...oh yeah!"
Rutherford's blackouts and disjointed memory had me rolling. "Welcome back!"

Mirror Universe Gorn even have reptillian eyes while those in ours have compound eyes.

I liked the Roga Danar joke but I think they went with the wrong deep cut. They could have gone in two directions. First, go with something more hipstery. Second, go with someone more clearly absurd like Okona. Boimler seems like the exact kind of person who would think Okona is cool.

The thing is that Roga Danar IS more badass than Khan. He won.

Should the Gorn female have visible breasts? 'Cause, y'know, reptile and not mammal? Other than that one little thing, great episode!

Maybe those aren't breast; could be her super-toned pectoral muscles ;)

Edit: Plus, with female reptiles often being larger than the males...for all we know the one in the white robe/flower crown is the Groom and the one in the cloak who attacks Rutherford is the Bride.
After all, he ruined her wedding!

This was a little to frenetic for my tastes for a first viewing, the hackneyed plot and rapid-fire Trek references being both jarring and hard to keep up with, but on the other hand, it'll make a second and third viewing so much the sweeter! That is probably the main thing this show has going for it, is rewatchability, and maybe that's why 10 episodes a season is enough with this pacing. The animation has really found its footing--a solid 8 from me, probably a 9 after I digest everything.

In STO the compound eyes are labelled spec ops lenses that are over top their actual eyes, which is a neat if non-canon explanation.

Though it doesn't work now with all them having them here.

Maybe they're like glasses or sunglasses and just very common on Gornar. Maybe they have a weird sun (there is strong indication in multiple non-canon sources that they are not native to their homeworld), and just wear it from a young age. The MU slave just had his goggles (surgically?) removed and was forced to rely on plain, Gorn eyesight.

Reptiles have scales over their eyes, so if they needed lenses to go over their eyes I don't see any real reason (e.g., comfort) that they wouldn't just apply the lenses directly to their eyeballs.

I prefer the Gorn being slightly different animals.

I get weirded out when I see dogs on alien planets, even more so than every race looking mostly human.
