Star Trek lines you use in your life at times.

I also use "Resistance is futile" on occasion and "Do it!" As much as I would like to use the "I'm a doctor, not a..." line, I am not a doctor, therefore it would be illogical.

Yeah but you can always twerk.....I mean tweak it to fit your job.

Like "Damnit I'm a (insert your profession) not a (insert profession that fits what you are being asked to do). It still works well.

Never thought of that! Good idea. If I attempted to twerk, I'd probably dislocate something  So no. I'll leave the twerking to Miley.

The last couple of days I've been trying to trap a mouse in my yard. After discovering a trap that had moved across the yard, was chewed on, and busted open.
"What I wouldn't give for a hand phaser." Blasted squirrels.

I've quoted rules of acquisition to make real life arguments about economics. "Remember the third rule of acquisition: Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to."

Shades of the line from Kirk to Charlie X

There's a million things you can have, and a million things you can't have.

"Punch it."

And I say the line like Capt. Pike, not Han Solo. Because if it were Han Solo, then I'd add "Chewie" at the end.

"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting".

Which i usually think to myself after, i have finished a whole packet of biscuits. lol

I work as a train guard, and I have to respond when the passengers press the passenger emergency intercom. My default line is: "Please state the nature of the passenger emergency."

So far no one has said anything about it...

"Fate protects fools, little children, and ships named Enterprise."

Except it really doesn't.

Enterprise CV6 was scrapped despite being the most decorated ship in US Navy history

Enterprise CVN65 is currently being readied for scrapping despite being the first nuclear carrier and longest serving carrier in Navy history.

The shuttle Enterprise never flew in space and got kicked out as the centerpiece of the Air and Space museum in favor of Discovery. Although it did end up in NYC on the USS Intrepid.

The 1701 was destroyed in TSFS.
The 1701-A was destroyed in a non canon book.
The 1701-B was also destroyed in a non canon book.
The 1701-C was destroyed in combat. Brought back in a time rift and then destroyed again.
The 1701-D was destroyed many times in TNG. Then destroyed for good by an inferior opponent.

As far as I know the 1701-E and NX-01 haven't been destroyed.

So of 10 Enterprises, 5 were destroyed in combat. 2 were cut up despite their historical significance. 1 was a test ship that was kicked out of a place of honor with other historic planes to a lesser place. And 2 apparently survive but I'm sure will be destroyed in later works.

A 70% fatality rate for the ships doesn't seem like fate is really protecting them that much.

when my workspace becomes out of control, I say to myself;

"...bridge is smashed, computers inoperative..."

...and then, I laugh like an insane person at myself...

...every time.

Hmmm...yep, I need help.

If my girlfriend is in a bad mood and won't let me come near her, I always ask her if her 'shields are up' - her being a redhead also results I'm me referring to it being an 'orange alert'

My girlfriend's room she get's changed in we refer to as her 'ready room'

Her second and last names are Louise Richardson which I frequently change to 'Lou-Ricard'

'Make it so' is thrown around a lot but I guess a lot of people do that.

When she has a spot I'll usually ask her if she's suffering from Klingon Puberty.

Additionally, the noise of the TOS communicator is my text message and email sound effect.

When I think of it a lot of it revolves around my other half...

This reminds me of something my wife and I do. It's not a quote per-se, but if one of our kids (or us!) has a particularly impressive pimple, it gets referred to as a gorch.

Something about taking the Klingon Oath like Worf says all over dramatically. "Engage", "You have the bridge" and something about Data being fascinated. And the quote everyone knows from Bones of course.

After I showed my friends "Cause and Effect", the phrase "The cards are sufficiently randomized" makes a frequent appearance at the board game table.

The needs of the many outweight the needs of the few.

We use this (the German version) while we discuss Star Trek novel issues in the forum of German ST novels puplisher Cross Cult.

I, also, have paraphrased of "the needs of the many" and also refer to considering something for "zero point six eight seconds" occasionally adding that "...for an android - that is nearly an eternity".

"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting".

I've used that one quite a few times. The Charlie X quote as well - also usually with the kids.

But my favorite quote to use in conversation is "I shall consider it." from Mirror, Mirror, used when someone is trying to convince me of something and has made a good argument. I remember seeing on the 25th Anniversary special a JPL scientist saying that this phrase was used frequently among his colleagues to indicate that you would take a new idea seriously.
