Star Trek: Jack Bauer

Yeah, I know..most of my stuff is mindless. But with this I want to do just a mindless/action kind of story. So I am taking Jack Bauer from 24 and throwing him into a post nemesis star trek story where can shoot guns and yell things like "YOU WILL TELL ME WHAT I WANT, OR I WILL KILL YOU" stuff....so...time for the quick set up..

PREAMBLE

21st century

The nude body of a man was gently lowered inside of a special container that would keep his body at an extreme cold temperature. The man had suffered severe wounds, and had been exposed to several bio-weapons during his career as a government agent. The final blow was a bullet that became lodged in his brain. In the early 21st century, there was no way to remove the bullet. So it was decided to leave the bullet inside the man’s brain, and put his body into stasis, and hope for the day he could be revived; and saved.

The container was sealed and the wait began.

Born Again

Commander Julian Bashir stared down at his patient. It was a wonder that the man, of African descent, was even still alive. The stasis chamber that had kept him alive since the early 21st century had miraculously not malfunctioned over the centuries. The data processors that ran the stasis chamber had long since lost the battery capacity to store any of the medical data that had been saved at the time. But with 24th century medical computers it wasn’t that difficult to figure out why he had been put into stasis all those years ago.

It was a bullet through the back of the head which had killed the man. His name, according to the label on the outside of the stasis chamber, was Thomas Devron. How he came to have the bullet in his head did not concern Bashir; saving his life, and reviving him, did.

The bio-scanners, with their readouts displayed on a panel above where Devron was recovering, showed that he had responded favorably to the treatment and, more importantly, to the reactivation of his heart. The technology to speed down heart activity had been theorized as far back as the 19th century, and obviously had been perfected enough to attempt by the 21st century. Devron’s heart was responding quite well.

Suddenly Devron’s right arm reached up and clasped around Bashir’s neck, grasping it, and swung the unsuspecting Doctor on to the bed, with Devron now standing over him.

“Where am I?” Devron demanded with a quick and violent riddled whisper.

Bashir could barely believe, let alone talk.

“Hospital,” Bashir was able to get out through abated breath.

“Where?!” Devron demanded again.

“Starfleet,” Bashir coughed as the air in his lungs began to run thin, “Siberia Russia.” Bashir responded, hoping that by using 21st century designations of political borders would help the situations.

“The Russians?” Devron asked. “You gave me to the Russians? You fools!”

Bashir, even with his enhance ability, could not break the grip of the man. The lack of oxygen was also affecting Julian’s ability to gather his strength. As his life ebbed out of him, Bashir could only see rage of anger in the man’s eyes. And then, Bashir was still; he was dead.

Devron patted down Bashir and found a strange looking device, and then he removed Bashir’s trousers and put them on. As he finished fitting the pants on, the door to the room whooshed open and a female in a Starfleet medical outfit came in. Before she could alert anyone upon seeing the lifeless body of Bashir, or scream, Devron grabbed her, and twisted her head, causing her neck to crack, killing her. He quickly put on Bashir’s footwear and shirt and then exited the room.

Devron saw that he was in some kind of medical establishment. It was a very busy place, with all kinds of activity, the kind of activity required for a covert escape. He bowed his head and headed for what seemed to be an exit and slipped through it; he was free.

--

THREE DAYS LATER

Jack Bauer could suddenly hear voices. His eyes were still closed, but he could hear the undeniable sound of conversation, though kept at a hush. Where was he? He was having trouble with his memory recall. He remembered tracking Devron to a small town in Odessa Texas; and then everything goes blank.

Thomas Devron had been part of a cabal to replace the American President with an exact duplicate, a clone in fact, that had been taken from the President’s own DNA when he was a child. The President, Greg Lanier, had come from a powerful family. His own father had been President. When Greg was at the age of ten, his DNA was ‘taken’ from a sample of blood that was stolen from a hospital he recuperated at while he recovered from a broken leg caused by a crash with his motorbike.

His DNA was taken at such a young in age as a gamble; a gamble that he would rise up the social/government ranks and eventually become President, which had finally done, when he reached the age of forty-seven. In the meantime, his clone was raised in a fake American city, with fake parents, all the while indoctrinated with the knowledge needed to become President, as well as a carefully groomed, and inspired hatred, of the United States.

Devron was part of the conspiracy, and Jack had tracked him to Odessa. It was hoped that by capturing Devron, Jack could use methods otherwise condoned by the free world, to pry the information out of him. But something had gone wrong, because all that Jack remembered now was tracking Devron to a small industrial area of the Texas town.

Realizing there was no longer a reason to play possum, Jack opened his eyes. A beautiful woman gazed down upon him.

“Hello,” She said with a genuine smile. “My name is Doctor Beverly Crusher,” she added. “Welcome back to life.”

What a pile of............................

(Does not wish to say what, but it sure as hell isn't greatness)

I think it's a really cool crossover idea. Like most crossovers it doesn't make a whole lot of sense but neither does 24 half the time.

Looking forward to see how many people Jack will torture to get to Devron and stop him from doing whatever evil plan he's got cooked up.

Killing Man

2jack.jpg

Jack Bauer found himself opening a door to an unknown room. There was fine mist, almost a fog that rolled through the darkened room. There was only enough light to see what was faintly ahead of him. Then he kicked something on the ground. A body was on the ground. Jack bent down to see just who the person was; it was his daughter Kim. She was on the ground, her throat slit. Blood gushed out. She was cradling her baby girl. The baby had been killed in the same way. Jack pulled out his gun, but before he could stand up, Kim reached out and put her hand on his arm, holding him down.

“Daddy,” Kim said, as blood spilled out of her mouth. “Come to heaven, we need you. Mom is here, President Palmer is here, Bill Buchanon, even Tony. We’re all here, we just need you.”

Jack stood up in shock at seeing his dead daughter talking to him.

An instant later, Jack sat up in bed. It had been a nightmare, a grizzly one. He had only been asleep for three hours, and the dreams kept coming. The dreams of those who had died in the past kept coming. Why hadn’t they just let him die back in the past? He wanted death; he wanted go to Heaven, or hell, it didn’t matter to someone like Jack who had lived a life of unrelenting remorse. If he had his gun, he would have pulled the trigger hours ago and blown his brains out. If the Doctors in the future had medicated him with sleeping pills, he would have grabbed the bottle by now and downed them in an instant. But he couldn’t; not yet. Not now. Thomas Devron was out there, somewhere. Once Jack had taken care of Devron, he would find the means to end his own life. There was no reason for him to live in this time. No reason at all except for one; revenge.

He reached over for the glass of water that had been left to him. As he sipped on the water he tried to recall how he had been shot in the head. But the memories were still cloudy. The repairs to his brain would take time to completely heal. But he didn’t care. He didn’t want to remember the entirety of his past.

He struggled to stand. His legs were still stiff from the non-use of over three-hundred years. How Thomas Devron had managed to be so nimble after he awakened escaped Jack’s reasoning. It was then that the monitor on the desk in the room began to flash. A prompt came on the screen that read: INCOMING MESSAGE.

Jack walked over, and took a seat at the desk. He pressed a button on the keypad. The screen came to life, and the face of his bitter enemy, Thomas Devron appeared.

“Hello Jack,” Devron said. “I see you made it to this century in fine shape.”

“Yes, I have,” Jack said. “I will find you again, and I will put a bullet into your head.”

“The funny thing is, Jack,” Devron said, “that’s exactly what I did to you. And yet, here you are.”

“Why don’t you come back here and try that again,” Jack said.

“Now where would the fun be in doing that” Thomas asked with a warm smile. “Besides, I need to get me some tushy. I haven’t had any since I raped your daughter, right before I killed her. She was sweet Jack, and OH so considerate. I mean, helping to keep her baby quiet while I did my thang to her. She was all good!”

The look of total anger swept over Jack’s face.

“I’m coming for you Devron,” Jack said. “These foolish people have no idea what I will do to find you and kill you,” Jack said through gritted teeth.

“You do that Jack, I’ll be waiting. And as you're coming for me, ask yourself, is this, you and I being together again like this, an act of random chance or were we brought here for a reason.”

“I really don’t care why we are here,” Jack said. “All I care is that every moment I spend talking to you is another moment you are alive. You better cover your ass, Devron, because I’m coming for you,” Jack put his finger on the off button, “now.” And then the screen went blank.

Thomas Devron could only laugh at the screen went blank. Another person’s face came on the screen before him. CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE

Wow, this is dark.

I'm not so sure if I like the vengeful Jack Bauer that much. I think I prefer the I-have-to-save-the-world-because-nobody-else-is-going-to-do-it Jack Bauer a little bit better.

I dont know...if Kim were murdered like that? Jack would go crazy with revenge..thats how I read him. Especially after the crap the government put him through the past seasons (abandoning him in china...trying to jail him for his crimes..)

Kim is the last part of him, and her child. Murdered like that? Raped? Jack would go after the person who did it...no doubt about...and revenge would be the main reason.

But he will soon find out, in my story, that there is something else much bigger going on than just his simple revenge which will, hopefully, bring him back from his suicidal existance...

Rob

He clearly has reason to be vengeful. No doubt. It's just that Jack Bauer has always been so interesting because he's been this tragic figure who sacrifices himself for the good of others. And that's what makes him appealing in my eyes.

You've made him a lot more like Mad Max or Death Wish's Bronson.

Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. Just a new side to him that might require some time to get used to.

oh, I agree. But I think the fact he knew he had a grandaughter this year would have given him reason to live....but if Kim/and her kid were killed in a horrible way by a man trying to get at jack? he'd lose it..and I don't think PICARD has any idea what Jack will do to find Devron...but as I said, events will soon happen that will change the table, so to speak, just like 24 tries to do..I will try do to. Throw the readers (viewers) a curve ball!!!

Rob

This is really a cool idea. Which you beat me to, sadly. You're doing a really good job, though.

Thanks GRAY...I cant send you a private message for some reason. But if you want to collaborate on this, I'm all for it.

Rob

I'd be interested except that I have a lot of college to do, and in my writing time I don't have time to segway another story in, along with my Star Trek/Avatar crossover, and my attempt at writing an Avatar: The Last Airbender relaunch of sorts. Sorry.

STARFLEET FACILITY
Siberia

The Starbase facility in Siberia was warm on the inside, but very cold on the outside. The outside temperature was currently -150 degrees.

Admiral Picard, and his wife, Captain Beverly Crusher-Picard, of Starfleet medical, strode out of his office and into Turbolift. Picard pressed a button and the Turbolift began its quick descent. Deck A1 was their destination. It was the deepest part of the base, nearly one thousand feet under the surface.

Finding Jack Bauer did not pose as much as a problem as Picard had first thought. Alerted to Jack’s presence near the science lab on deck A1 by station security, Picard and Crusher made their way there promptly.

“How do you think he managed to get down there?” Beverly asked as the Turbolift made its way downward. “I thought this area required special access protocols.”

“Having read what little we have on Jack Bauer,” Picard said to her, “I am not surprised at all. He reminds me a lot of the material I have read over the years about James Kirk.”

“What do you mean Jean Luc?” Beverly asked with a laugh. “Kirk was in no way like this man Jack Bauer. This man is a killing machine.”

“I meant that James Kirk, when he set his mind to a task, would not stop until he completed it, by any means.” Picard said, making his point. “This Jack Bauer is made of the exact same cloth. It almost got Kirk killed many times and or ran him afoul of Starfleet even more times.”

Beverly looked closer at her husband.

“You like that about Jack,” Beverly said with a prodding grin. “I remember once when you told me about your brief encounter with him. They both have that reckless abandon that you use to have before you were stabbed all those years ago. You miss that part of you. You have even said so from time to time.”

“Nonsense,” Picard countered. “I turned my efforts into careful thought. Reckless abandonment can get you killed, or those most close to you.”

“True,” Beverly said. “But, it can also drive you to greater success if controlled.”

“It is that why you married me finally?” Picard asked with a smile.

“No,” she said, correcting him with a smile, “that is why you married me Jean-Luc. I wouldn’t stop chasing you.”

They smiled at each other and then the door opened, and they walked out of the Turbolift as two junior officer walked in their place.

The science lab was actually very large for an Earth-bound base. It also housed the only holodeck on the base. And that is where Captain Picard and Admiral Picard found Jack Bauer.

“I’m glad we found you,” Admiral Picard said to Bauer. “We were worried you had left the base.”

“No sir,” Jack told him. “I was reading in my room about this holodeck of yours’. It is an amazing piece of technology. Someone could lose themselves in something like this.”

“Oh believe me,” Adm. Picard replied. “They have.” The thought of Lt. Broccoli brought a smile inside.

“What interests you about it?” Bev Picard asked Jack.

Jack pointed over to one of the programmers.

“I asked this gentleman,” Jack said, “about perhaps creating a program based upon the agency I worked of in the past; CTU. He said that he could, and that he could actually use character profiles I create for him, based on my friends, to help create the team that provided me with invaluable real-time information. With out them, I would have died long long ago. Could he do this?”

“He could,” Picard said. “But do you really need this holographic team to find Mr. Devron?”

Jack nodded, “Yes sir, I do. I’m just one man. Devron has the advantage of making moves that I then have to take time counter react to. I believe with a fully staffed CTU tactical team, albeit an artificial one, it would be like having a team that can try to guess his next move and relay me this information as I am in the field. It works, trust me.”

Picard looked over to the tech, a young officer named Lt. Ronald D Moore.

“Do you think you can have this CTU creation up and running in day or so?” Picard asked.

“Yes sir,” Lt. Moore said. “If mister Bauer can give me detailed profiles of the key personal, I can use that information to create this tactical team. I worked on the program team that created the Vic Fontane program, and I assure you sir that it can be done swiftly.”

“Oh,” Beverly said, “I just love Vic. Have you seen his show yet?” She asked Picard.

“No,” Picard said, “not as of yet. Lt. Moore if you believe you can do this,” Picard told Moore, “then do so at your upmost swiftness. This Thomas Devron person is sure to attack and kill and innocent victim again. We must stop him at all cost before more life is lost.”

“Thank you,” Jack said to Picard. “I will find him, I assure you.”

Picard lowered his voice.

“Mister Bauer,” Picard said, “I must warn you that in the twenty-fourth century we will not accept blind revenge as a motivating cause of justice. If you find mister Devron, you must promise me that you will let our legal system cast judgment on him; and not you.”

Jack thought for a moment.

“Of course sir,” Jack finally replied. “I will remember that.”

At that, Jack sat down and started to give Lt. Moore detailed character profiles on his old friends. The first profile they world on would be for Jack’s number-one tactical ally; Chloe O’Brian.

Madcap mayhem is to ensue. Well done Rob, for another incarnation of Trek. The use of the holosuite to recreate the CTU is a nice way to include plus it allows those characters to have 'modern day' knowledge of the tech and politics Jack is going to encounter.

Thanks Miranda...you know me, I love that mindless fun that you can just dive into. I think Jack really needs his support team; mainly Chloe and Bill, and I will Tony Almada. But they have so messed up Tony on real 24, I can't use him.

And as usual, Jack will come to see that there is more going on here than his being accidentally revived. The bad "guys" know who he is too, and what he can do. Will be fun to see where I take this. I have a pretty good idea, but every once in while my mind will cut in and say "DO THIS, INSTEAD OF DOING THAT"...and it all gets thrown up into the air like a deck of cards...

Previously on 24

Jack Bauer’s body, believed to be mortally wounded by a gunshot to the back of the head, was put inside of a stasis canister in the early twenty-first century. So was the body of the man who had killed Jack’s daughter, and her child. His name was Thomas Devron. He was part of a cabal to replace all the world’s rulers with clones.

Then, three hundred years in the future, the canisters that contained Bauer and Devron, which had been lost through time, were found. Upon having his own wound repaired by Doctor Julian Bashir, Devron attacked Bashir, killed him, and then escaped the Starfleet medical center he had been brought to at a complex in twenty-fourth century Siberia.

Upon finding historic data about Jack Bauer, Admiral Picard ordered that he too, Jack Bauer, be brought back from the “dead”. Captain Beverly Crusher-Picard, now the wife of Admiral Picard, operated on and was able to remove the bullet from backs head. Bauer has now been enlisted to track down the escaped murderer of Bashir; Thomas Devron.

We now continue…

Going Home

It had been a long time since Jack Bauer had last stood inside of CTU’s command center. Even though it was only a Holodeck representation, it didn’t matter to Jack, to him it was real. The various computer stations, the arrangement of the chairs, all of what made the command center what it was, Jack had been able to convey to the programmer, Lt. Ronald D Moore. With Jack’s exact details and lay out of the CTU, Lt. Ronald D Moore was able to recreate the massive five story complex; including the server room where even Teri Bauer, Jack’s wife, had been murdered by one of Jack’s one time partners Nina Meyers.

Jack stood in that server room, totally lost in the memory of that day, which found him trying to save the life of the then American President, David Palmer. But the events of that day had spiraled into a more fantastic plot that eventually cost the life of Jack's wife.

The murder of Teri, an innocent victim, at the hands of Nina Meyer had shaken Jack to the core and would shape the foundation of his very being for the rest of his life. And all though Kim, Teri and Jack’s daughter, said that she had forgiven him for her mother’s death, Jack never really believe she had; completely. And then, Kim her self was brutally raped and killed, with her young child clutched in her arms, and then even the child was murdered as well. Jack had never found himself wrapped in the envelopeo revenge; but now he was. Thomas Devron would die, and Jack would be the knife that ended the vile man's life.

All of that, Teri's death, and Kim's death as well, were ancient memories. Jack Bauer was now in the twenty-fourth century, practically three hundred years in the future. It would have been the same had someone from the 1700s had come into Jack’s own real time; the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. It was mind boggling to say the least.

Jack closed his eyes, and tried his best to make the bad memories fade away. He had to, or he would find himself losing his minds. He took one last look at the room where Teri had died, and then he made his way back into the main tactical ops center of CTU. And as he did, he was pleasantly surprised to see his good friend Chloe O’Brian sitting at her post. Jack walked over to her.

“Its good to see you,” Jack said to Chloe, desperately wanting to change his depressing mood.

In her usual way, Chloe talked to Jack while not taking her eye off of her work.

“Come on Jack,” Chloe said, in her soft, yet alluring, whining voice. “We don’t have time for this. Bill wants me to reconstitute the CTU files, so I don’t really have time for games right now, if you know what I mean?”

“That’s right,” came from another voice from behind Jack. “We need to get you out there in the field. Devron isn’t going to wait for us. He’s no doubt making his next move as we speak.”

Jack turned around to see another ghost from his past. Bill Buchanan.

“It’s really you,” Jack said with a smile.

“Jack,” Bill said in all seriousness, “if you’re still being affected by the Prion derivative, perhaps you should let Rene and the FBI handle this.”

Jack had to keep remembering that the characters inside the holograms were acting off the most detailed profiles that he, and Lt. Moore, had written for them. And more importantly, they, Chloe and Bill, were unaware of the passage of time. Bill had actually died in the line of duty protecting the President, and Chloe had eventually passed away as well. That aspect of there being, their deaths, was obviously not included with their profiles.

“No,” Jack said. “I’m alright. Just a little confused for a moment.” He turned his attention back to Chloe. “What do you have for me?”

The CTU computers were actually routed through the Federation databases and servers. But for all intents and purposes, at least in Chloe’s and Bill’s eyes, they were routed through NSA, CIA and other cover ops.

“Apparently there was some kind of incident on Starbase 142,” Chloe said as she read the data that began to fill the screen. She created several windows to review the different flows of information she was tracking.

--

Outside the Holodeck, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, Captain Beverly Picard, and Lt. Ronald D. Moore all watched the events transpiring inside the holodeck with Jack and the two characters.

“What about that,” Beverly said to Picard. “Is that true? Was there an incident on Starbase 142?”

Lt. Moore, with out being told to, used his own computer to access the data that Chloe was sifting through.

“Yes,” Moore finally replied. “The security division on 142 is investigating the suspicious deaths of a Cardassian woman and her daughter.”

“How did the Chloe character find that info so fast?” Admiral Picard asked Moore.

“Like I said,” Moore replied to Picard, “I’m really good at what I do. Mr. Bauer gave me the most complete profiles I have ever had to go on. And if Chloe was able to find statistical data that led her to this event on 142, then her ability to work through sub-files and redundant backup protocols could rival even our most experienced twenty-fourth century analyzing experts.”

“Amazing,” Bev and Jean-Luc each muttered in unison.

At that moment, the door to the holodeck opened and Jack came out.

“I suppose you are going to Starbase 142?” Admiral Picard asked Jack.

“Yes,” Jack said. “But I have to hurry. Thomas Devron moves very quickly.”

“You seem worried,” Beverly added.

“I am,” Jack allowed. “He had to know that I would find out about the murder of this woman and her child. He wants me to follow him.”

“He wants you to catch him?” Admiral Picard asked
