Spoilers Star Trek Discovery - Starships and Technology Season Five Discussion

It's also scaled down ~25% based on eyeballing it with a Crossfield next to it.

I'm guessing because the actual scale would have been too big for the game.

The 32nd century Breen Frigates were also added as a 'hangar pet' for the Dreadnaught. Our best look at them at least until Fanhome maybe does a model. Since they were pretty hard to see in the actual episodes.

That's...an even worse too-on-the-nose name than Praetor class for the Romulan Praetor's flagship from SNW season 1 finale.
Pardon me, how is it worse? Putting it into the aliens’ native language seems like an improvement over the Anglo-sounding Praetor.
Just picture King Charles, the Princess Royal and co sailing into battle aboard their King-class aircraft carriers.

Perhaps each vessel is named after a historical leader, like with the Qang- (Chancellor-) class from Star Trek: Klingon Empire?

Thanks for sharing, I hadn’t seen the frigates yet.
Yeah, the ship was planetoid sized, it had to be scaled down. STO did the same with the Emerald Chain Veridian.
Personally, I hope Fanhome doesn’t waste a space on an alien ship but gives Starfleet some love.

Ah, Yod-thot. I centuries old misunderstanding of an Earth meme intercepted by the Breen. An image of a single woman with a debate going on either side of here. The Breen made it so the two phrases mean the same thing, but it was not. One side it saids "Queen" but on the other side? "Yeet THOT".

Huh? Not even close.

the Term 'Thot' in regards to breen first appeared in DS9.

Hi! Sorry, I couldn’t dig up the season 3 thread.
But the ship type of the USS Dresselhaus from DIS seasons 3-5 and SA season 1 has been given a class name in the Fanhome Starships Collection magazine!

It is the Dresselhaus class.

On a personal level, I’m not a fan of that name for two reasons:
1. Bauhaus class was right there - would’ve established theme naming and fit with the perception of the class being an engineering vessel or construction ship.
2. It adds to the Trek trope of “first ship of an unfamiliar class we encounter becomes class prototype”, which started with ENT.

Edit: added concept art.

Yeah, seems kind of lazy to go straight with the class name like that. But, the show is long gone, the writers have moved on, and I'm not sure the Okudas hold much influence from their input on such things these days. Fanhome picked the low-hanging fruit with that one. If the show had continued for another one or two seasons, we may have seen more world-building in that regard. It is what it is, sadly...
