Continuity and consistency across shows and decades may have been fun at some point, but now it's just a straitjacket for creativity. It's like being told you can only play in the yard when there's a whole forest over the fence.
I have reached the point where I am done with podcasts and vloggers. I have a few sites that have proven themselves with production news, I will stick with them. I hate the way any goober with a PC can now throw anything out there and then it turns into "news".
It's an impossible task. There's no way they can please everybody. The best they can do is make the show they want to see (while under CBS's ever-watchful eye).Producing this and satisfying all involved seems a monumental task
Well, yes, not everyone will have exactly their vision, I agree. I hope that "tug of war" works to produce a show that is at least viable as the same struggle produced five other ST series. Another alternative is to give up all hope and say the ship is sinking, throw up your hands and watch ST go away on the small screen for another 5 to 10 years. I'm trying to be more positive here - although I appreciate your point of view, that they should just make the darn show they want to see. The trouble is, there are a lot of "they's" and don't see everything eye to eye. It's an impossible task. There's no way they can please everybody. This wasn't meant to be an origin story though.People can accept reboots of the origins of Sherlock Holmes, Batman, Superman and every other fictional characters but don't touch Star Trek! Please..kiss me neck!
That might play quite well in foreign markets. No one expects women to curl up to a man and state that they're frightened in a possible dangerous situation.
The irony of this statement when you remember that Michelle Yeoh (one of the biggest action stars in asia) is a member of the cast.Have to keep in mind how the show will play in China.
Oh, I really wish it would be 'Rogue One' of Star Trek, but I doubt it will. Let's just hope it won't be 'The Phantom Menace' of Star Trek...This series is going to be the "Rogue One" of Star Trek. It's immediately set before the original Star Trek. There are going to be tons of references to the original show. Wether or not that qualifies as a "stealth reboot", a clean reboot, or still as "prime universe" will probably depend greatly on you if you thought "Rogue One" was believable as a prequel to the original Star Wars.
Well they won't be. Unless they've invented actual time travel, those stories will always have been told and always be available to watch.

Star Trek's reboot affected and modified the original.
Well, a re-imaging and updated visuals are NOT the same as a reboot. The former refers to the visual style while the later refers to the narrative universe/timeline in which the stories take place. You can have updated visuals without a reboot. In various interviews and articles they've stated that it's a reboot, using words like "re-imagining" and "updated visuals" etc. They haven't actually used the word "reboot" to avoid offending the hypersensitive fans who will be offended regardless.
But it's still a fucking reboot whatever you want to call it.
