It was fine with Discovery. Emphasis on was.Too bad Star Trek doesn't know how to successfully accomplish this.
Well, it works with Lowe Decks, so it does know how... It just fails to do so in live action

Ya but giant city sized spaces in a ship is up there with the space salamanders as on of the worst Trek has ever done
I suspect that highlights why our reactions differ. I like mysteries, looking for clues, and figuring things out. Both in real life and fiction. That's not always possible in fiction but I like at least a semblance of it being possible. That didn't fit that mold at all for the reasons you state! I just wasn't going to figure out that one out! The fact that the science was SO bad didn't help. I don't require total scientific accuracy (this is ST after all) but that was particularly egregious! If I never see Q again I wouldn't miss him. But if the price I have to pay for some top notch performances by Bill Irwin and Doug Jones is a dilithium mutant linked to subspace I'm willing to pay it.
Fair point.Well, it's important to me in a season that has a season long mystery arc! I certainly enjoyed aspects and episodes along the way.
I tend to find most Trek satisfying, which is why I'm here.
I also like the characters but obviously we're placing different priorities on other aspects.Fair point.
I find Trek satisfying because of the characters not solving mysteries.
Yeah, I'm more into the character stuff. I think that's at the heart of what Star Trek is. I'm not sure where the science was egregious in the Su K'al portions of the episode. It seemed to be built on Trek pseudo science: dilithium, subspace and what have you rather than actual science.I suspect that highlights why our reactions differ. I can honestly see why if you place more value on the performance, then you'd be OK with the resolution. I thought the performances were great too, but without that other part, it just didn't work for me. However, speaking of Doug Jones, man, he was a real highlight of this season for me. I've always like his portrayal of Saru. But, I loved how he became is own, unique type of captain this season. A type of captain that was entirely in line with his character. So, I agree, excellent performances and Doug Jones was a highlight for me throughout the season.
But, that didn't make the resolution satisfying for me.

Par for the course in Star Trek to me.Yeah, the dilithium/subspace mutant thing seemed worse than normal. But, maybe that's just me.
I was a little surprised to see Burnham get command of Discovery now, I figured that wasn't going to happen until the end of the season.
Most people don't read all of the comments and just look at the average so I like the average to be as accurate as possible. It's not a big deal really you are right about that it's just a rating on a fun forum rating
So its wrong to think this was up there with the worst Trek but absolutely fine to think its one of the best episodes ever.
I gave it a 1 and I often rate DIS harsh because I come on here after watching a mediocre episode to find 10s everywhers so I see it as a counterbalance to the DIS can do no wrong people
Same here. Plus, they also look a lot more comfortable for the actors to spend long shooting days in. The original blue unis were pretty unforgiving and sometimes tailored within an inch of their life.I like the new uniforms.

His best friend Stympe will show up played by the same actor.Same goes with Ryn - wish they hadn't killed him off so soon, we barely got to explore his character and he could have added a unique perception to the show
