I just find this iteration of the mirror universe to be too over the top. These Terrans cannibalize and consume other sentient life forms. Did we ever get the impression that Mirror Archer, Trip and the mirror NCC-1701 crew were consuming their underlings. It’s just off putting

Not their underlings, just their livestock.

The scene in Season 1 with the eating Kelpian was black humor. Especially when it suddenly dawned on Burnham what she was eating. Now I wish they hadn't included it, only because everyone who didn't like it has beaten that dead horse into a bloody pulp. Actually the bloody pulp has been beaten into an even bloodier pulp of its own.

If they include it in "Terra Firma, Part II" at all (and they haven't in Part I), I'll be surprised.

Personally i have hated how the mirror universe has been depicted in past treks. It was too camp to take seriously and as a gay man i hated that bisexuality was used to depict how bad the alternate selves of our heroes were.

The mirror universe shown in Discovery is a genuinely terrifying place as it should always have been. You should find the mirror universe unsettling and off putting. That is kind of the point.

Sounds liek circular reasoning. How do you know it's mirror Airiam?

How do we know anyone is anyone ? It's not like they're wearing namebadges (#TATV got it right!)

Interestingly, we saw both Sarah Mitich (Airiam 1.0, Nilsson) and Hannah Cheesman (Airiam 2.0) in human form in the mirror universe, presumably as Mirror Nilsson and Mirror Airiam. But, "Mirror Nilsson" has dark brown or red hair instead of Nilsson's usual blonde. Is Mitich playing a new character? Probably not, but who knows.

The real question is how rare of a profession is interpretative dancing in the MU? Seems like it'd be as common as a MU psychiatrist/counselor or a MU babysitter.
Even the most barbaric empire on Earth had dancers and storytellers.
I think the Terran Empire is easily more barbaric than the most historic barbaric empires on Earth.
Given how theatrical the Mirror Universe is (and deep down you know I'm not wrong about this), I'm surprised they haven't had interpretive dancing sooner.

“We had an overview meeting last Summer and we have those every year now where they give us a pitch for the season. We knew about the mirror universe because last year. We knew we were going to jump into the future because of Michelle Yeoh, and how she was getting out of our world and into the ‘Section 31’ world which is the next series, so it was an early conversation,” Phillips tells Variety.

Come off it already. You can't kill every actor. They're not in the military for one. And for another, even Officers want to sit down and watch something afterhours.

lol, people really have to get used to my sense of humour and sarcasm on here.

But half-seriously, it seems like it'd be a great way to get rid of your competition for roles.

True. But, maybe some think like Mirror Spock. They're quite content being lesser targets. ;)

Oh, and small nitpick from the start, "Lieutenant Commander Yor is the only known person to have traveled in time and dimensions!!"
Well except for bloody Spock, of course. Heard of him?
Spock's fate might be classified, Ni'Var thought he abandoned them.

Am trying to wrap my head around why I liked it.

Execution matters.
Well it's a MU episode, so that's why you like it ;)

They were doing that in the very first mirror episode in season 1 too, saying things like "Mirror Discovery". It's weird but obviously meant for the viewers to clarify things. In DS9 I don't think they ever used it, it was always the alternate universe.
They saw that in the Disco MU, Earth itself is mirrored, so the term makes sense for them.

It made the whole situation even more tense and full of suspense, cause she was supposed to act like it's not a big deal and she actually likes it, while at the same time realizing what a horrible thing it is she has to eat... great drama!
