So the nacelles reattach when they spore jump. Makes sense.
Spore jump could become the travel method of choice of the thirty second century without endangering "canon" and creating outrage among the fans...

So that brings us back to only a few Romulans survived the supernova...The Picard tie-in material said the harmful radiation from the supernova would affect not just the Romulan system, but other systems in the Romulan empire after it travels several light years in a few years' time.
Spock's black hole can't magically pull back all that harmful radiation after the supernova already exploded. We might have to assume that a bunch of other Romulan systems were affected too, resulting in their sorry state in Picard.
I think if you go back and read what you wrote a little closer, you might not be as indignant about my question.
I wasn’t trying to assess your tastes. I was asking you a genuine question. I’m sorry if it was insulting to you. I think it was fair.
What this episode needed was one Reman saying "Hey, we deserve representation too! Spock wasn't that great, he totally ignored us! I want to be in this forum too---"
Ni'var guards drag the Reman away, and then everyone carries on like nothing happened.![]()
I don't think asking someone if they are a "actually a fan of Star Trek" is a fair question to ask of anyone, me or anyone else. It smacks of gatekeeping.
If I'm being indignant for saying that, then so be it.
YMMV.
I think they were, but we just didn’t ever see it. Remember, they technically started running into the Borg quite early, with outposts being attacked by an unknown adversary, as implied by TNG S1’s The Neutral Zone. The far side of their empire was touching the Delta Quadrant, getting probed by Borg forward observers. I suspect that’s where they were attempting to grow, as expansion past the rest of their borders was blocked by Federation and Klingon territories. They were also not very expansionist.

I don’t see how seeking greater understanding about where someone stands is gatekeeping. I asked the question respectfully and without antagonism or pretense, and as such I won’t take responsibility for your reaction. Again, given your posting history regarding the Kurtzman era and the statement about the Berman era’s (which represents well over 600 franchise hours) creative/production and character shortcomings...I was just wondering what it is you DO like. Perhaps my original wording was not optimal...peace.
As a fan, given your highly critical reaction to these significant elements of the franchise, what parts of it do you like?
Gee the lead character in the show, who has a connection the character that worked for unification between the Romulans and the Vulcans is central to a plot that involves the Romulans and Vulcans. SHOCKING!!!!!Super Burnham strikes again.
That's pretty much what they did,Could have used the XO position to give a underused character some more screen time but sadly not. Airiam 1.0 for instance. She already has taken the seat a few times.
You would have hated episodic TV where we learn to love a character in less than an hour.Ooh lord the Airiams funeral scenes were just terrible writing. I dont think we even had 1 scene with this character outside of the episode she died and we are supposed to care about her.
Why would he know? ( or care) His humanity is still up in the air.Doesn't matter how far it is. Book is human. Ask him what happened to the Vulcans.
Everyone?Wow, I really was impressed by this episode! Everything in it sounds right. The tie-in with "Picard" is nicely done, I was half expecting Michael's Mom to say "Choose to live and..."
The "Unification III" obviously refers to the two-parter of TNG... Has someone made that connection already? I can't be the only one.
I give it a ten!
Who gives a fuck? We got to see Nimoy and hear him deliver some dialog that ties in with the episode. Somethings are more important than almighty canon.I kept wondering how exactly captain Picard obtained footage of ambassador Spock talking to him in private with no recording equipment. I guess since canon doesn't matter, Picard was a sly vlogger all along?

Everyone?

Why not? Burnham was expecting to find her, just not on Ni'var.Gabrielle Burnham being in this future makes no fucking sense
Oh my god, he's the Neelix!!!!Burnham and Book are now a couple. I’d predict that he will eventually join the crew in some sort of unofficial position like explorer consultant.
It couldn't have been more telegraphed if it was a message from Western Union. How the hell did you know?
Organizations in Star Trek have precise recording of everything ( that oddly looks liked filmed entertainment with blocking and close ups), except when they don't.If combadges were on "record" the whole time, I can think of a few things in the TNG era that should have been different. Riker's trial for one thing in killing that alien in some episode, they should have just pulled up his combadge records.
Is it me or do folks around here seem a bit more on edge with this season of "DISCOVERY"?
There seems to be a lot more discussion lately in which folks are taking posts personally and snapping back, rather than letting things slide.
Maybe it's just me noticing it more.![]()
