Just watched it a second time, and am on the verge of a 10, so well did the production, direction, scoring and acting mesh. The story was really nothing groundbreaking, since the whole non-binary/trans aspect was couched in terms of Trill, a device used with Dax in DS9 as an allegory for lesbianism. But the execution of said story was extremely well done in my opinion, and the Adira/Grey dynamic worked exceedingly well.

Loved Culber's voiceover at the start accompanied by a money shot of the ship and nice piano work. Not sure about his foray into psychology given he's a physician, but I'll chalk it up to him being smart. :p

Loved the computer/data dump merger; brought to mind that scene where the computer called Kirk "darling" and he threatened to fix it (or something like that).

Georgeau has been wearing a bit thin, and although I like her interaction with LInus, this time during the Buster Keaton hologram movie scene, and taking the wine from the table, I hope they give her something more substantial to do soon... she's too cookie cutter now.

Loved the fishbird, white eyeballs, upside down submersion, and evaporating ghost scenes to name but a few "special effects".

The only thing keeping me teetering on a 9 is why didn't they have a warning system or deflector shield to defend against flying meteors or debris in the distant future?

Next up: The FEDERATION!

Culber's kind nature bumped the show up a point for me. Trill was beautiful. I just didn't connect with the central romance - not because of the non-binary/trans thing, but because I just didn't like their chemistry (that cutesy 'no, you idiot' comment annoyed me). Maybe it will grow on me. I'd rather see a lot more of Detmer and Culber. I would be fine never seeing Phillipa again. I can't get over what a monster she is.

Natural causes and old age are not synonymous. Curzon got fucked to death, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have lived for another few decades otherwise.

Or a few millennia if he remained in stasis... That wouldn't be much of a life now, would it?

If the unnamed CMO (like the unnamed captain left on Vulcan 1000+ years ago) did not stay with them, he's not the CMO anymore
yes, but on the other hand they avoid saying *chief* medical log in the intro voiceover, so it seems he officially isn’t right now.

Well, McCoy did that all the time...

My thought on it was that it was a generation ship and maybe things were breaking down.

Also they probably forgot their St Connolly medallion

Good episode.
I like Culber, he is someone I would like to talk with about my problemens. And the dinner scene was great, I want to know more about all those characters except Georgeau, I hope that they dump her on the next rock.

And the Adira romantic and the symbiont binding scènes were too long and not very good.

The same way as Titan didn't have a fucking radio.

Everyone in the future is stupid.

I'd expect Cardassia to join UFP about 50 years to maybe a century after DS9.
Post DS9 Cardassia would be in a similar situation that Bajor was after being occupied for 50 years.
Remember that the Dominion started eradicating the population of Cardassia in the next to last episode of DS9...
I'm sure the Federation would have tried providing aid to it (after imposing heavy restrictions on them), and politically, they could have seen continued support for non-military Cardassia - which would probably lead to better relations long term with Bajor and UFP at large.

Post war Germany comes to mind.peace and loyalty exchanged for money and collective amnesia.

I think it makes more sense than not to have Cardassians in the Federation.
Would be nice to know where the Ferengi are as a culture these days because I can see the greed is good Ferengi being a huge problem once time travel becomes easier

Sure? But what does stasis have to do with it? I'm talking about his natural lifespan. We have zero information about how long he would have lived if it weren't for his "romantic complication". Lela lived to 114, but again we have no info about if it was from old age or some other factor.

what was a Trill/human generational ship doing near earth with Tal on board but without earth government knowing is anyone’s guess.
We don't know if it was a Trill/human ship or if it was near Earth do we?

The asteroid was awful though especially the way it's just spinning casually into the ship. Jeysus even the captain of the Titanic would have seen that coming

Remember this is the same Earth Government who where too incompetent to figure out what happened to Titan.
Well maybe if the lads on Titan had tried taking off their extremely aggressive looking masks and shown they were human it might have helped.
I think the burn may have affected more than just the dilithium or maybe all the smart people were on the ships that blew up. I'm getting District 9 vibes from the survivors

It did just sort of casually potato its way into their ship exactly in the way things in space don't.

Yeah, those morons.

The above mentioned morons that can’t scan as far as Titan supposedly rescued Adira from an escape pod...without noticing the rest of the ship (!!!). and then they put her on a police border inspection team for some reason just a couple of years later.

Ya and is 16 her canon age because that means she was either very rapidly fast tracked on to that security team or was way too young to be sharing a room with Grey.
And now that scavenging is one of the few viable options for survival and given the relative stupidity of said scavengers the Pacleds must be absolute gods in this century
