Could it be because she is the STAR of the show.

I realize that this might be a slightly complicated thought process, but it has held true for every single incarnation of Star Trek so far.

The Lead Actor, is Always the "Epicenter" of the show.
:techman:
This. If a lead character in a show is annoying the show probably isn't for you.

This is a little odd: When the episode first premiered, it had a hybrid logo of the old and new Discovery logos. I happened to screencap it to show a friend.

I noticed in episode 3 that it used the new logo that was previously advertised. I didn't remember which one episode 2 used, so I went back to check, and it had the new logo... and now so does episode 1? It appears they re-edited and re-uploaded it to use the new logo.

3x02 had the new logo last week.

Sigh, the Curiosity got the better of me and I watched this episode just to kind of see where the show is at and how it feels and I just came out of it... Cold.

I didn't recognize or really identify what I was watching as what I consider to be Star Trek or why I got into the franchise in the first place all so many years ago. Too many quick cuts, flashy edited action scenes and what was with that drugged-out rant.

I'm dismayed that so many like this show and glee over it so much, seeing it as the best stuff the franchise has ever done.

Fine.

Whatever.

It's not be for me, I just saw an ugly mess.

De gustibus...

You sound just like some fans when TNG came out, when DS9 came out, when VOY came out and oh yeah, when ENT came out...

And the "Star Trek" portion of the wordmark has since converted to the TOS version.

This is the guy who overreacted to Lower Decks. The absolute least Kurtzman of the Kurtzman Series. So it's no surprise he'd have reaction he does to Discovery and anyone who likes it.
No, I get that. And they are welcome to that opinion. But the term "dismayed" is a very descriptive term that I find quite fascinating, that another fan's enjoyment of a series would cause such an intense reaction. So, I was curious to find out what the potential harm they see as coming from others enjoyment.

I will probably still be confused by the rationale but such a term stood out to me.
