Still nothing compared to the treatment Burnham gets so far.
In their sleep.While not shown, I’m sure both Jadzia and Kira could have done that.
Voyager had Janeway use a bat'leth to beat up Borg drones.
DS9 had Kira and Dax go toe to toe with Klingons unarmed too.
So, yeah, nothing new here..

I've been online since 1996. In Star Trek terms that's the end of the second season of VOY and the fourth season of DS9. In all that time, I have to say that I think bashers have gone after Burnham with as much zeal as Wesley. Possibly more. Not an exaggeration. I think the bashers treated Neelix better than they treat Burnham. And because she dares to do what these bashers wouldn't blink an eye at if Kirk or Picard did. And it's not because she's not a Captain. I used to think that at first. But after all this time, I'm beginning to think differently. It's way too overzealous. Even if she did become Captain, it wouldn't change. Seeing how a lot them treated Mariner recently pretty much confirmed what I'd suspected for a while but hadn't been able to tell for absolute sure until then.

Still, they focus too much on her without being able to support this focus with a good writing.
I had forgotten that her name was originally going to be Rainsford.

Had to rewatch it and happy I did. The gang that couldn't shoot straight scenes kind of bothered me, but that's been pretty much par for the course in many an action movie or series, so forgivable.
Not sure about this fixation on Burnham supposedly getting too much screen time, but unless someone does a minute by minute screen time evaluation of each character in Trek history, it's an unproven assertion. Sonequa put in a stellar performance, exhibiting a range of emotions almost Shatneresque in scope, especially in the drugged up scene.
When all is said and done, this Trek incarnation might be the one most remembered for its unabashed inclusion, depending on how the two new characters on the spectrum are handled.

In general communication on forums often gets quite exhausting.
Things get misunderstood, lost in translation and often the whole thing turns into a contest who writes the last sentence. And most times when you meet those people, you learned to dislike because of their supposed stubbornness, in real life they turn out to be much less unnerving then initially thought.

What the hell is this? And you got a black character shooting and hitting other dark-skinned characters. That's almost like black on black crime. That's stereotypical.
No, but that's a lot of violence. Yikes. The 90s were crazy.
