Its a shame Lorca wasn't a normal, Prime human Starfleet captain rather than being turned into a pantomime villain from the MU. He was more a Kirk than a Pike

Some of my biggest pet peeves right there. Lorca was Mirror Universe. Georgiou is Mirror Universe. Pike is only 1 season.

I liked Lorca as portrayed up to the Mirror Universe episodes. Then he became a mustache twirling villain. Before that he was an interesting character and a breath of fresh air in the role of Starfleet Captain. People may not have liked that he wasn't a paragon of virtue, but nobody is. Lorca still held true to Starfleet and Federation values, even if it was a bit more closer to the gray areas.

Georgiou and now Pike were/are closer to center on the stereotype Starfleet captain role model. Still, I've been left wanting to see much more of their adventures. They can give me the Star Trek I crave.

Not Mirror Georgiou though. I really don't want to see any more of her adventures. I do not like this portrayal of Section 31. I'm not interested in watching amoral anti-heroes stumble along and save the day. It seems these anti-heroes have their anti moments off screen and they usually, if not always, do the right thing on screen when we're watching.

Pike and Georgiou would fit in with TNG Picard era, although it could be the case that Picard was the pompous ass and the other Starfleet captains in the fleet were just normal 'humans' or whatever species they represented. The few TOS captains/commodores/admirals on the T.V screen were not as virtuous as P&G, they (P&G) do not fit the stereotype of 23rd century 'cowboy diplomacy', more like well intentioned 'we come in peace' missionaries. Events like A private little war would be very different with them in charge.

Sarek and Amanda really should have been holograms, saying their goodbyes over subspace. Them managing to beat the Section 31/Control fleet to Discovery in their little yacht is ridiculous.

One, you are assuming that Sarek was might only there to say goodbye to Michael, and two, you are ignoring that he's connected to the katra of a character who will be visiting his current past from her future.

Sarek and Amanda being there really was a weak point. Strong scene with little logic behind it. I can't buy that the shared katra thing puts a turbo in his shuttle.

but it was such a good scene I just let logic throw itself out the window, which quioxtically is best with most vulcan scenes

However, licking a Time Susan or a Time Betty or any other Time Lady is perfectly okay so long as it's consensual. :techman:

Liked for the picture of Romana.

Why can't you buy her future self contacting him in the past in order to get all her ducks in a row? that is the whole point of the seven signals? Sure I can accept you not likeing it, but how does this kind of behavior of RA Burnham who created a trail of breadcrumbs for the characters to follow and enact according to what she remembers not follow the narrative?

Because it was pointless and its stretching credulity even farther. She cold have just katra-telephoned him or sent a message like eeryone else did.

Present Burnham is kind of occupied learning how to operate the suit and contemplating her rubberband martyrdom. Future Burnham, however, is trying to get the past she remembers to line up perfectly in every possible way, IMHO..

But she still had time for that meeting. If she was so pressed for time why was it so important that future Burnham go back to somehow direct Sarek and Amanda to hop in the Holiday Rambler and burn space rubber, racing past an AI directed fleet to see her off?

Since future Burnham knows how to operate the suit...

I'm thinking its a memory which helps keep her going. And i also suspect that seeing her isn't the only reason Sarek has shown up (as he might be important to implementing the cavalry I suspect which will be making an appearance next ep to help ensure she and disco make it out of their current mess). Beside, why do they have to burn rubber? Future Burnham can give past Sarek plenty of time to get where he needs to be as well as when.
