Umm. Yup. Definitely hip hop.Hip hop?
Dude, it's the Bee Gees.
(And Friends)
Still, not a party with young people looking to dance and hang out, so not really the same thing. If I recall correctly, Lorca and Cornwell were listening to smooth jazz while they were drinking in his quarters. Seemed appropriate.
Wyclef Jean built a vault, deep beneath the earth. The entrance was discovered beneath the rubble of his palace after ww3.I suppose the one thing that throws me off about the music choices is that high-quality copies of those recordings would actually survive over the next 230(?) years.
That still doesn't make it work for Discovery .. I mean how would it? I don't get that kind of 'argument'. Discovery is screwing with it's era.. answer.. other Star Trek has stuffed up too.Yeah, because TNG NEVER did anything like that....oh, wait:
I love to hate Lorca. He's like an anti-Picard or a less moral version of Sisko. He's a great addition to Star Trek because it adds more dimension to the Captain's Chair.
Vulcan Jazz night will be a big hit.
It would be an imagination of science to "assume" any and all leg and spinal injuries could be fixed in the future, it's possible there would still be certain limits to medicine.
It's something Star Trek in general has ALWAYS done (IE use colloquial terms because it's ENTERTAINMENT)- so why suddenly do you expect ST: D to not do it?That still doesn't make it work for Discovery .. You should hear their beat poetry. You can't dance to that stuff. Who can find the beat in a fucking √2/4 time signature?
What exactly are you talking about? Using 20th Century music in a show that takes place in the 23rd? Why is that a problem?Discovery presented itself specifically in an era it chose to reference to another. Wanted to exploit the connections.. least they can do is try to be consistent. If they want to be groovy fine. The dance party didn't fit.
