I'd have to rewatch, but is there a reason Georgiou let Burnham go with her to the Klingon ship instead of just confining her to a locked room?
The Captain realized after T'Kuvma lied (in accepting the Parley then killing the Admiral) that Burnham was right about one aspect of this encounter - standard Federation diplomacy wasn't goingg to work here and the Captain also realized that while Burnham did the wrong thing, she did it for the right reason (IE Burnham felt it was the only way out that could save the ship.)
^^^
On that score they were BOTH wrong as nothing (not Diplomacy or a 'Vulcan Hello') would have changed this as the encounter was staged and setup for ONE purpose - to start a war.

Thus the Captain knew she could count of Burnham for this particular mission. What I don't understand is: IF they had the ability to Transport more people at the same time; why didn't they take a larger compliment to board the ship a capture T'Kuvma?

I am actually enjoying the actors, which I've commented on more than once. Though, I gotta say, watching people squirm when non-sense is pointed out is pretty fun and worth the ten bucks a month.

So in other words, it is worth the money, either by virtue of still being a good value despite its flaws, or for the entertainment value of others' reactions to your reviews. Either way, your "we're complaining because we're paying for it" wasn't the truth... and it will stop being a legitimate excuse as soon as everyone renews their subscription by choice, knowing what they're in for.

This was always inconsistent.
The Klingons held Kirk and Spock as captives in "Errand of Mercy."
Fifteen years later, in TWOK, Kirk claims that "the Klingons don't take prisoners."
Then in the very next movie, Kruge vaporizes his gunner for accidentally destroying the Grissom because "I wanted prisoners! :klingon:"

I think Kirk's line in TWOK may have been a bit of humor, not a totally factual statement.

Kor
It's not inconsistent.

- One it was a training situation of an encounter in deep space.

- If the Klingons destroy/cripple the ship, no they probably wouldn't take captives or pickup escape Pods; they shot to destroy the latter too.

Kirk was a Federation Captain found on an occupied planet at what the Klingons believed would be the start of another general war with the Federation. They would be fools not to interrogate and get what info they could in that situation. But in general - no - Klingons don't take prisoners.

I doubt Kirk and Spock would qualify as prisoners. They were going to be mind-sifted then probably executed.

Then how the hell do they have so many prisoners from so many planets working all their hard labour?

And show trial courtrooms broadcasting new cases in what passes for reality TV across the galaxy constantly?

They take tons of them, have entire systems to process and use them.

Don't confuse a "Alien Prisoner taken after a ship is destroyed" with "Klingon Empire citizen convicted of a crime."

Until I read it here I had no idea that was L'Rell on the ship. That was one of my issues going in with the new Klingons is that I was worried they wouldn't stand out enough. Maybe I just need a bit more time to get used to them. Though, like most Trek, for such a warrior and tough species Klingons do get smacked up by Humans pretty regularly.

Probably my favourite episode so far. Still hate the designs of the Klingon ships. Those Raiders are...urgh. As someone who was very negative about the appearance of the Discovery it is close to the ship I have the least issues with in appearance now. Like how Saru is developing. I thought the little dream at the start would have Micky B injecting herself. Had my doubts about Mudd appearing (the character rather than the actor), but he was great. Interesting to see how much was 'real' from him in there.

Interesting to hear about Lorca's past. Didn't have a lot of issues with him being the sole survivor. If the ship was going to be taken he should be the first person you try to get out of there. That might not have been the situation. We'll see.

Maybe I’m just better at distinguishing faces.

If you were to line up all the DSC Klingons I could tell them apart.

Yeah they all look different and recognisable to me. Their costumes are all different too, unlike the generic armour of the TNG era.

I'm not unopposed to the idea of Tyler being Voq. Indeed I think that, if true, Lorca knows about it, or at least suspects it. It was when Lorca asked Tyler about being held captive for seven months and Tyler immediately agrees. I think that piqued Lorca's suspicions.

Well, to be fair, ST:FC moved Zefram Cochrane from Alpha Centauri to Earth (Montana.) :)

That's easy enough to explain: Cochrane was born on Earth and later MOVED to Alpha Centauri.

We all know that wouldn't have changed anything. Beaming over to the Klingon ship with two other security personnel (i.e. redshirts) would have resulting in at least, 1 instant redshirt death and 1 redshirt injury, if not both dying.

Sometimes I think these issues arise just from cost savings. Which is kindof ridiculous for this show with all its money, but they do seem to have spent their money in odd ways in Discovery: the brief view of the Torcherbearer suit is a prime example, or the Starfleet uniforms made from high-end fabrics from Switzerland, etc. Save money on those and spend a little more on a couple more security guys, or giving another bridge officer a line or two.

The series has gotten better with the last two episodes, but it's still pretty dumb.

Things I liked:
* I was positively surprised by Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd. He must've studied Roger C. Carmel as he captured several of his mannerisms as Mudd perfectly. Mudd is not only the small-time criminal we thought from TOS, but a collaborator.

* This episode came the closest yet to actually feel like Star Trek, especially as the ethics of the "Tardigrade" was explored.

Things I didn't like:

* Alright with using organic technology, but the mycelium network isn't a very good concept.

* Lorca, perhaps the most important Starship Captain, travels unescorted at a location where he can get picked up easily by Klingons? Also, Lorca killed his crew?

* That was supposed to be a D7? No, don't think so. That the producers are unaware of some Star Trek basics (such as the quote from the ST Writer's Guide I've used earlier that the viewscreen "is not a window") is one thing, showing almost disrespect is another. And the raiders with their "feathers" really didn't feel Klingon to me.

Things I look forward to learn more about:

* Is Ash who he claims he is? *cough*Voq*cough*

* Stamets at the end: Is the Mirror Universe coming into play?

Things I still ask myself:

I rate this episode 5/10.

So...prisoner, just a "conquered" one.

Whatever term used, whatever way it's spun, Klingons take a lot of people alive for a number of reasons. Kirk is still wrong.

Out of principle, I respect freedom of speech and your right to express your opinion.

However, going to a BBS and intentionally making points to get entertainment out of creating discomfort to others who are simply trying to enjoy a show is pretty low (putting it politely). You are explicitly saying that you're getting your $10 worth by pissing people off. Not cool man.

Sorry, cultcross, I saw your post, but this type of self-admitted behavior has to be pointed out. It's an intentional "fuck you" to those enjoying the show. It's all about intent, and he's admitted to his intent.

I also said I enjoyed the acting. But you felt the need to clip that part of the post out.
