So, in the gaming forum, apparently nobody knows of the official movie game or doesn't care, so I'd like to open discussion about Star Trek DAC, the new video game, here. (It is related to STXI, after all.)
It was released for download yesterday on XBox Live. Has anybody tried it yet?
While it's a relatively simple game, flying around shooting enemies (Federation or Romulan) in one of three ship classes, it was surprisingly fun. I played match after match not realizing it had already gotten dark outside. The game features Giacchino's original score to great effect, some nicely designed, if busy, background graphics inspired by the film - you can fight in orbit of Vulcan for example. And since the Narada was a bit too huge to be the Romulan equivalent of the Enterprise in this one, they came up with three new Romulan ship designs based on the Narada, it appears which should be interesting to look at for the Trek Tech fans.
So, has anyone played yet? Any first impressions?
