Yes, they've said that from the beginning. But it's somewhat disingenuous because right off the bat they inserted a ship's Counselor which is a direct shout-out to TNG.

I guess the word "counselor" would be the biggest tie, but I think Dr. Elizabeth Dehner and Dr. Helen Noel were not in TNG.

Sorry, I know it's easy to hear counselor and think of TNG but I don't really think that's the way they are going, Star Trek had counselors before the spinoffs were even dreamed of, they just didn't advertise it so much.

STC announced Nakia Burrise will be guest starring in episode 4. She played Tanya Sloan, the Yellow Ranger, in the Power Rangers series and movie.

Ultraman was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Sort of the same idea, I guess. I'm not familiar with Nakia's work either, but from some youtube vids, she's a pro.

But it seems someone can be overly sensitive. I made a minor critique regarding someone's fan produced artwork (a misspelling of "throught" instead of the correct "throughout") and now I can no longer "like" or comment on any of STC's Facebook posts.

This is nothing new.

The admins at the Facebook pages for Phase II and Axanar do this as well.

I would suspect it's to better control the visible perception of these productions. After all, it's a lot easier to curry favor with the fans if your feed is filled with nothing but praise, especially if you are occasionally dependent on that goodwill during "Kickstarter season."

Frankly, I'm not a bit surprised that the admin at Axanar pulls this kind of crap; and this ability to censor/control what Joe Q. Public Internet User sees online might also have factored into Phase II's retiring of its message board forum, which has been (at least to the best of my estimation) down since May.

Likewise, this may also be part of the reason why Star Trek Continues has never had a public message board forum.

It's no surprise that the moderators at our FB page purge out any comments that are less than glowing and complimentary. ( I find it disappointing, but not surprising.)

As a moderator here on TrekBBS, I try to be agnostic about all fan films despite my Phase II affiliation and I generally let even the most virulent criticisms of our product stand and speak for themselves.

Well there's constructive criticism and then there's insults. I could understand not wanting a lot of comments, I sometimes read some of the comments after various articles and then I wonder why I bothered after looking at the various cussing and other drivel. I really think a downside of the internet is that when someone posts something like that you can't smack them, but then they would never have the courage to say that to a person's face anyway. As I do here, I try to be civil, sometimes I fall short, but there's enough that never try that I sympatize with no comments.

But to point out a misspelling being blocked seems ridiculous, I do hope they continue but I'm less confident of the whole endeavor.

What I find truly silly (beyond the possible offence taken over something so minor) is that my critique wasn't aimed at STC, but rather a piece of fan made imagery.

It was actually a decent piece of imagery marred only by the obvious misspelling of one word. It was part of a quotation from "Whom Gods Destroy" from some dialogue of Kirk's. I merely pointed out that the actual line of dialogue has Kirk saying "throughout" and not "throught." Someone else (not the piece's creator) got snarky about it and I forgot about it. Then a few days ago I realized I could no longer like or comment on any of STC's posts.

Seriously, I have no desire to ever see Cyrano Jones again or to revisit the gangster planet from "A Piece Of The Action" or any other contrived revisit of anyone else from TOS. And despite STC's stated intent some fans still express interest in seeing certain crossovers.

Oy vey! Crossovers we don't need. And I agree that they've done quite enough revisits to put their TOS "cred" beyond serious question. As Bearded Spock so aptly put it: "Forward."

Speaking as an outsider, this could have been part of why you find yourself in the situation you face now.

I disagree with the kind of selective censorship the fan film groups employ on their own pages and certainly to the extreme that you seem to be the victim of here, but connecting the dots its entirely possible whoever monitors/runs the Star Trek Continues Facebook page just recognizes your name from all the times you've commented and in particular anytime you've poopoo'd something they might have been investigating doing or actually working on.

I don't excuse their methods nor do I mean to criticize you for voicing your opinions as you have, I'm just making the point here that it might be connected, that's all.

It's possible although my dissenting comments have been quite few and far between. Most posts I consider ridiculous I pass by without remark except for thise few instances when I feel something suggested is just way, way too fannish.

They have now pushed back their release target from winter to spring 2015.

Thought winter sounded too optimistic considering they haven't even started shooting yet.
